You wouldn't even have to change that many words to repurpose Arizona's press conference for one for a team buying at the deadline.

The great thing about Chychrun though is that he is signed at an amazing deal for a young top pairing D. By the time the Devils might be competing he will be off his deal and making the same as a guy like Hamilton, negating a big chunk of his value.

Devils should be aiming to compete the next three years while some of their young guys are still on ELCs.

It’s a worthy gamble dependent on the value. For example, Zacha + Smith can be the centerpiece of a package that doesn’t hurt the Devils now or long term.
