Celebrity Death: Chris Cornell

This song has been stuck in my head since I read the news this morning, and I'm not mad about it.

Spotify already has a playlist dedicated to all things Cornell built.

Awesome. I'll be listening to it all day. Sucks to hear he left behind a family. It goes without saying but suicide is just so awful.

just woke up to the news and i'm in complete shock. there's just no way

with all the celeb deaths the past few years, this one hits me the hardest. i was too young to fully experience bowie or prince but i grew up during the 90s listening to grunge. chris cornell had, in my opinion, the best voice in grunge and one of the best in all of rock. soundgarden and temple of the dog were two bands that just never got old for me. this really sucks. wish i could have seen them live. crazy that eddie vedder is the last living frontman of the big 4 grunge bands

RIP Chris. gone way, way too soon

Kurt Cobain
Layne Staley
Scott Weiland
and now Chris Cornell

This is a fourth part of my childhood leaving too soon. RIP Chris.

What I would give to have been in Detroit last night for the show......

Man I could have been there.... I had absolutely no idea he was playing. This one just seems out left field, he just looked so damn healthy. Ugh :'(

I was literally sitting in a coffee shop yesterday afternoon talking with my sis about him being one of the only rock vocalists with a true 4 octave range. As an objectively skilled singer he's in a class with Freddie Mercury, and that's probably about it for prominent rock vocalists tbh.

Then I was making a CD for her car and put this on it.

It will always give me chills, you just hear how utterly soulful and incredible of a singer he is.
So surreal

RIP

Holy ****.

Soundgarden was one of my favorite bands in college. I'm stunned.

I can't say I was a huge Soundgarden fan, but I had nothing but respect for CC. Being a die hard Pearl Jam fan, I also know how pivotal he was in that bands early years. He was close friends with Andrew Wood and when Eddie Vedder showed up in town, he could have blown him off, but he took him in as his own and mentored him. PJ probably isn't around without Chris Cornell.

There's no denying what a talent he was, and even at this age, his voice sounded great. RIP.

His range is incredible. I did get to see him live twice though so I have those memories at least. Saw them when they got back together a few years ago and as a teenager on the Superunknown tour

Damn. Such an amazing voice. Growing up, Audioslave was one of my favourite bands, so this is tough.

I remember listening to this song so many times as a kid.

RIP Chris.

Same I got to see them in Washington at the Gorge for their reunion tour. Queens of the Stone Age & Mastodon were the openers. It was as close to a dream lineup as you can get....and Soundgarden absolutely blew them out of the water. It was the best sounding band I've ever heard live, hands down. The openers and surrounding must have brought out their A game because they were just in the zone that night.

While I didn't love everything he was ever a part of, I definitely liked some of it. What I really appreciated though were his vocals. I always thought he had an amazing voice.

I kept hearing Audioslave and Soundgarden songs on the radio today, and noted how they were playing a lot of kick-ass tunes. Finally heard the news about 4pm when they said Chris had died last night.

Only saw him once, in '92 supporting Guns N Roses, but this was before Superunknown exploded so no-one knew who they were
