CHL to NCAA Commits

I mean sure you can have your scholarship pulled and the CHL education package once you go CIS isn’t going to be pulled but from a playing perspective we have guys all over Canada not playing when I’m sure they think they should be . UNB is obviously an extreme example with the talent coming in but it’s what I know best …I’m pretty confident guys like Peter Trainor , Geordie Wudrick ,Justin Nolet , Pat Kyte etc never would have saw themselves being healthy scratches when they arrived .

Each those players had other motivates why they ended up at UNB. Or then left afterwards

The NCAA has approved an increase to 26 Full Scholarships for each Div I hockey starting next season. 26.

Quick math tells you that each team will need 6.5 new recruits per season just to fill all 26 sports. 64 Teams x 6.5 Scholarships = 416 new Scholarships each season. And that's not factoring in players who turn Pro before graduation OR players who leave college hockey for other reasons.

There are only 60 CHL Teams. Each of those is not capable of producing 6.5 players per season to fill NCAA Div I Scholarships. So, the majority of NCAA Div I scholarships will still be given to Jr A players (including USHL / NAHL).

If you're coming out of the CHL, you're coming out of the top Junior league in the world, and you're going to slot in well ahead of Jr A players.

What is infinitely more likely than coaches not renewing a Scholarship is a player who returns home for personal reasons, financial reasons, or because they have fallen down the depth chart. But the idea that a lot of kids scholarships won't get renewed each year is fanciful thinking, sorry.
