He hasn't shown anything that hints toward him being a top6 forward, let alone 1st line.

To me, him having a career similar to Eller would be a huge win.
Hyman had his first 40 point season at the age of 25, but plays well in a complimentary winger role with offensive players. Obviously we have to see more of Poehling. But I'd be interested to see what he does in that role. I think he'll get a shot playing wing with offensive players eventually.

Poehling and Ylonen may be better candidates than Josh Anderson.

so far our rough under 25 depth chart:

Caufield Suzuki Poehling
Roy Wright Ylonen
Farrell Kidney Heineman
Pitlick/RHP Evans Mysak
Pezetta, Simoneau

Roy and Wright are both 6 feet and above. Maybe Farrell, if his game translates, will be able to play with them.. This is definitely the best forward prospect pool we've had in ages.
Poehling is barely an nhl player. He's definitely not a first linear.

I don't get the Poehling hate, You need big body's to take up lanes and he's got some offensive flair. Perfect for our bottom 6 going forward , homegrown kid too ,
I actually wonder what he'd be like in a 10 game sample playing with Suzuki and Caufield

Plenty of teams who have a duo on the top line have put a plug in there to bring different elements (board play, forcheck, etc)

Playoff games tonight:

OHL:

- Mysak & Xhekaj vs. Vrbetic @ 7PM ET (Game 4 between Hamitlon & North Bay) - If Hamilton wins tonight, they complete the sweep and go to the OHL Final. Vrbetic played Game 1 of the series but was the back up for Games 2 & 3. We'll see if North Bay will go back to Vrbetic for tonight.

- Sobolev @ 7PM ET (Game 4 vs. Flint)

WHL:

- Guhle @ 9PM ET (Game 5 vs. Winnipeg) - If Edmonton wins tonight, they eliminate Winnipeg and go to the WHL Final.

- Game 4 of Kamloops vs. Seattle @ 10PM ET

I did not see Farrell play enough to have a fair take on him. That being said, I was attracted to Roy as a good prospect last year because he was one of the youngest player in his draft class with a track record as an elite player (1st overall in the Q draft). With Farrell, it's the opposite, he was one of the older players in his draft and just on that I am not as enthusiastic. Farrell had a dominant season in the USHL, but he was 19. He is also smaller. That being said, I am negative about Farrell. He had a good season this year at Harvard and to be invited twice with Team USA is a good sign.

How would you rank Farrell in a redraft?

You want to finish last for a decade ? Awful lines . Poehling is barely a NHL player. Farrell and Kidney will be stamped in boards every game.

This is quite the disturbing report by Rick Westhead on up to 8 CHL players (many from Team Canada's 2018 gold medal WJC team) engaging in sexual assault on a single victim Hockey Canada, CHL settle lawsuit over alleged sexual assault involving World Junior players - TSN.ca

Logan Mailloux was suspended for half an OHL season for a far less serious offence that he had already served his punishment for with the law. Looks like the CHL tried to sweep this much more serious incident under the rug and cover it up. It will be interesting to see if any names come out.

Wrong thread. This is for current CHL Playoffs. But this is already being discussed in the Out of Town Thread.

Img, it's a rough depth chart.

Of course some/many of those players won't make it and won't play in those slots. Over the next decade the ho pl e is we draft other good players. But since we haven't dr as fred them yet, they aren't on the rough depth chart.

Re: Poehling, as a young player there m as y be more there in the future. Note the Hyman you saw last night playing well didn't hit 40 points until he was 25. Patience.

It comes from the hype pre NHL and after his 1st game. He has not met expectations and even if he is a good bottom 6F when he reaches prime, to some fans, that means he sucks.

I do admit, he is a difficult one to project forward. To cheap to say he sucks and is barely a NHL player.

Agreed, not many shine in the 20-25 age range and a lot of players like Poehling look much better in the 25-30 range. Problem is he came to the NHL with high expectations and because he has not met them, fans are frustrated with him. Typical Montreal

It's up to him to learn from his experience as he matures and work on the flaws in his game. Take time and we clearly know that he's not busting out. More like gradual gains here and there season to season.

He also has to stay healthy.

He's a powerful skater. But is actually slightly on the thinner side, which has him get the worst of some hits he takes. Plus, although he's improved on his peripheral vision, it has been an issue, leading to him getting rocked and injured.

Hyman has an inner flame and passion that Poehling does not have. I want anytime players like Hyman or Coleman on my team.

He was on pace for 12-15 goals and just starting to figure out the league….i wouldn’t go as far as saying he’s barely NHL.

I believe we see a 14 goal season for Poehling next season.
Poehling probably got more playing time than he ever has because of the Habs situation last year. He was underwhelming most of the season and scored a few near the end when nothing mattered and opposition didn't give a crap. I wouldn't put much stock in his play this season. The ahl is littered with guys who've scored 12-15 nhl goals. Penciling him in on the top line is a little nuts. It's no different than Byron scoring 20 before because he played top line minutes. Sure, it's great for the player and they did pretty well, but that doesn't make him a regular top line player. However, if it means getting a shot at Bedard, I'm all for Poehling on the 1st line!
