Salzburg in a comfortable three goal lead against Luleå, maybe people will finally stop the gross underestimation of EBEL.

its nice to get some positive recognition but to be fair Salzburg has so much luck today its not even funny and we really aren`t a middle-of-the-pack club in the EBEL.

Switzerland in the top and the bottom. Does anyone have a good explanation to the big difference between Geneva and Fribourg?

So, only 2 teams of the 8 were able to get even slightly decent attendance numbers for a 1/8 final game of CHL. The average was just 2938. DEL2 in Germany has similar numbers.

Strange, I'm vaguely remembering some German guy who'd predicted a "great success" to this tournament. Who could it be?:D

People say TPS's numbers included the season ticket holders and the actual number was closer to 1,000 spectators. I can't deny or confirm.

It's kind of sad. I didn't expect this tournament to be successful, but these numbers are just pathetic. Although maybe attendance will be higher in the semifinals/final.

Edit: nevermind, answered my own question. Full schedule is on the CHL schedule page.

Unfortunately it doesn't really work for me. Small chance I could watch a QF game 2, but it'd have to be in Gothenburg or Linköping.

Well. The irony of it is that in case of the top attendance teams the fans actually cared (at least more than in the other places where CHL is played) but the teams did not. In the Scandinavian teams it seems to be vice versa.

The concept of having a UEFA Champions League style tournament is still good but they should make it with 16 to maximum 24 teams and only the top 2 teams of every nation should qualify. Then maybe people would care.

Low attendence numbers doesn't automatically mean that people aren't interested. They could just be following the games in other ways.

Take Sweden for example. Many SHL teams are reporting dropping attendence numbers this season (so far) for the normal league games. The interest in the sport and the league aren't dropping though (at least not to the same extent). What has happened is that many people now often prefer to watch the games at home on TV. It's more comfortable and most certainly cheaper.

On top of that there always seems to be a lot of talk about there being too many games (and that people can't afford to go watch all those games anymore) just with the league regular season. No wonder that people decide to stay at home and watch it on TV if it's a CHL game (which obviously isn't properly established yet), especially when it's on "free" public service TV like it is in Sweden.

How are preps. for Tappara and JYP? Injuries? Will Metsola play for Tappara?
I can only say for JYP that there aren't anything confirmed but Mikko Mäenpää might be ready to play. Earlier JYP has told the media that Mäenpää is close to returning and will return after the national team break but wouldn't specify a date for his return. So his return is at least a possibility.

Antti Jaatinen is still unavailable. Other than that there are no injuries, at least not any news about then have surfaced. Then again, JYP rarely gives out information about the injury list.

Metsola will most likely play for Tappara.

71 Kristian Kuusela - 44 Jan-Mikael Järvinen - 34 Olli Palola
14 Pekka Jormakka - 28 Jarkko Malinen - 19 Jere Karjalainen
74 Antti Erkinjuntti - 81 Jukka Peltola - 29 Patrik Laine
27 Elmeri Kaksonen - 15 Otto Rauhala - 80 Teddy Da Costa

18 Tuukka Mäntylä - 38 Teemu Aalto
6 Pekka Saravo - 39 David Kolomatis
12 Markus Kankaanperä - 24 Atte Mäkinen
21 Pasi Puistola - 23 Aleksi Elorinne

77 Juha Metsola

Tappara's lineup, only Green and Marjamäki are out.

It's happening. Everything working for Salzburg. First those lucky goals in the first leg, now with confidence everything is working. Shorthanded to 3:0!

According to Live Tulokset Metsola won't play. Tappara will play with Hrachovina. It wouldn't make any sense to play with Metsola. They lost the series at the moment they decided to play the first game with a Mestis goalie. Metsola has just played for Finnish national team (Karjala Cup). This is a meaningless game for Tappara, so Metsola is getting his well deserved rest.

Yep. Swedes get their ***** kicked in all games right now. What the hell is this? Frölunda only hope left.
