This is why people who know hockey solely from playing NHL23 should be taken with a grain of salt, i mean COME ON NOW.
Pettersson and Hughes are great players. Demkos pretty good. Pettersson broke out right at the right time to get paid next year.

Reichel-Pettersson-

Hughes-Jones
-Murphy

Demko

This would be the team with a bunch of fill ins. They would be where the canucks are now. They would have to overspend in free agency and then pay Pettersson 10 mil a year next year. This doesnt make them compete.

We hope to have that future core already in

Bedard
Korchinski
Commesso

We can fill in the rest with the 14 picks in the first 2 rounds of the next 3 years. Ruining the rebuild for a few playoff appearances isnt NHL23. We have already jumped the gun trying to compete when not ready last year. Boqvist Sillinger and Jiricek for Jones and Allen. Now we are rebuilding again.

If the Canucks want Bedard.

It would stat with 11th Overall, Several other 1st rounders. Pettersson, Hughes and a whole bunch of other stuff. All while taking back a crapload of bad contracts.

For players like Bedard, the cost to acquire through a trade would cripple your team for years to come. Or else why the hell would Chicago do such a thing?

They won't trade him. However if for some reason they have to. Like say he tells them he refuses to sign with them (which is EXTREMELY unlikely) it will cost such a crazy price that no team would be better off for doing it.

Think Lindros Trade ++ because this time the team can't just give a massive package PLUS 15 million dollars. Which in todays money is probably closer to 30 million.

That is a lot of extra first round picks on top of an already massive price.

Does anybody think Chicago would trade first overall(Bedard) for second overall(fantilli?)

I was thinking of a hypothetical sedinesque scenario where the Canucks make a series of moves to get Bedard. Say something like

CBJ: 3rd oa -- Canucks 11 oa, JT. Miller+..?

ANA: 2nd oa -- Canucks 3rd oa+ podkolzin/lekkarimaki

Chicago 1st oa -- Canucks 2nd oa+ podkolzin/lekkarimaki +future 1st

It's probably too many moving parts for it to happen, but would the value be there for the teams?
In your wet dreams!!

Condo My Dad Bought Me
Hughes,Hughes, Hirschier, Nemec, Holtz, and 2024 1st for Bedard.

Would that be close to a Lindros type trade?

Not that NJ does it.

Actually....NJ would never consider it.

Chicago would have Bedard on the first plane out to Newark.

Would take something crazy.

Pettersson, Demko, and Hughes for 1st OA.

Vancouver wouldn't do it.
Maybe use that ‘haul’ for the Canucks to not suck. Oh yeah….they have these players and still suck.

These threads are the most cringe and dumb of HF threads. Especially coming from some Canuck fan pining for a local kid that is off to Chicago. Get over it already ffs.

Jesus. Bedard might not even be as good as Jack Hughes, who is a top 5 forward in the game at this point.

Lindros package was nowhere near this big.

Just to remind you of what the Flyers gave up.

The price will be more than anybody will want to pay.
Agreed! The Canadiens could offer the 5th overall pick, their 2024 1st-round pick (unprotected), Suzuki, Caulfield, Slafkovsky, Guhle, and Hutson and there would still be Chicago fans declining the trade.

Like I think everyone is crazy I see no way how Bedard will possibly be successful in Chicago. They are terrible and he will make them to good to tank but not even close enough to compete. They will be stuck with mid 1sts for years and years and will never form a complete team then he will inevitably leave for a contender. I’d much rather trade him for a huge haul to create a foundation because right now there isn’t any. You don’t add a 5 star kitchen to a house when there is no foundation laid out.

Buffalo- Kulich, Savoie, Mittlesadt, Rosen, Ostlund, Devon Levi, 13th overall and 2024 1st

Chicago- 1st overall

Now not even imo in terms of long term success Chicago would be foolish to turn that down. That gives them a foundation to build upon because right now they could possibly have the worst team ( without Bedard ) on paper in NHL history.

I just feel like long term this puts them in a FAR better position to succeed where they can tank for a few years and wait for there prospects to develop rather then be forced to surround Bedard with talent quickly.

Can someone please take the time to reply and tell me why I’m wrong because I’m obviously in the minority here and I have no clue why. That’s honesty. I’d appreciate it.

The only way you trade the pick is if Bedard really doesn't want to play for a team in a particular location or situation.

In the event that there is a trade request the best thing to do would be to hope for a bidding war and then go for the best offer on the table.

I don't know what a trade would look like in Bedard's case.
