Gives Bedard a guy to play with who has all the experience in the world, and can be a great second fiddle. gets rid of Jones, and they get a 2C.

Avs look at it as Jones@ 9.5>Mikko@ 13+ long term. Also gives them a couple forwards to replace those lost, one signed for cheaper than Mikko long term and a rental who can maybe be a bit of a driver on his own line better than Mitts seems to be for them?

Or maybe it's Mikko for Picks that they turn around and use elsewhere to fix the roster.

Why even trade Rantanen, if you don't get anything of value back in return? It's better to let him walk than take the cap hit of Jones.

There is value there. Teravainen/Bertuzzi are at minimum great middle 6 guys, and one could pop off with Mack. Hall has the potential to be a much better driver of a line than Mittelstadt, though with his poor output this year maybe he is swapped and they get both of Turbo/Bert rather than him. I mostly picked him because of contract status, and because anytime I watch the Avs they don't look like they can push play at all without Mack or Makar doing it. Hall has shown he can do that in his career, without another star on his line.

And GM's will remember Jones as the minute munching, point producing D he was before he went to an Org that tore it all down leaving their few good players completely exposed. He is another guy that has a history of pushing play. There isn't a lot of better RD's available, so he will fetch more than many think imo.

Plus there is the whole thing with Mikkos contract. If they believe like I do, that he is a product of Mack more than a driver himself, is he worth 13m? Is that more or less of an overpay than a top 4 RD who can move up in a pinch and play all situations at 9.5? If you can replace 70% of Rants production at fwd, AND get a top 4 D for the same cost, I think it makes them deeper and better.

Maybe throw in some minor pieces to even it out, but I can see that being the bones of a deal with Jones holding more value than most expect.

I feel like Ivan Ivan woiuldn't warrant this much attention? I get I love the kid and am rooting for him but 5 visits to scout Ivan who's been injured for the last few weeks and just got into his first game this week?

Ivan does have 3C potential and some offence. I'm not saying he's a dud.. but that seems like a small trade to even have a thread for till it actually happens. Other than the obvious Marcel Marcel jokes (if you aren't familiar, Marcel is a big boy!)
