So to trade away one year of Bickel we have to giveaway TT but to eat She Webber contract which is twice as much we get junk in return? I know the apologists are gonna make up excuses like oh we gotta spend to the floor anyway bla bla bla, ok that’s fine but why not use that as leverage to get more prospects or picks? What is this a charity organization? Our GM has low IQ, no one can truly justify this stupidity.
You thinking that having to get rid of Bickel’s contract and trading for Webber are even close to the same is another great example of your complete lack of comprehension of professional hockey.

What a stupid take.
The real dollars on this is zero. He gets one million from insurance.
I would say this is a high IQ move only it’s over your head so you don’t understand it.

Don’t like what they see available?
Weber gets you to the cap floor.
If Marner and Boeser have their agents call because they want to sign?
Move Weber to LTIR and SHAZAM !!!! The cap space magically reappears.

AND
If neither of the prospects gained here play a minute for the Hawks … how is that different from 31 of 32 5th rounders? Especially taking into account the current prospect pool.

I can only assume you're replying to the guy here who is the proof of concept that Dunning-Kruger is a legitimate thing.

I thought he had retired and we have to carry that cap for the remaining couple years, now looking up the details why even pay the 1 million for garbage players return? Every dollar counts, is this team actually planning to just go to the cap floor like some are suggesting next year? How long is this team gonna remain a bottom feeder for? This is a bottom feeder type of move.

don’t have any RHD except Murphy.

As a swede and regular SHL watcher I like the Söderström add. He has been one of the best defenders in Europe this year and has regained a lot of the confidence he lost in Arizona/Tuscon. 37 points and +29 (best in the league) in 46 games this year for Brynäs. Wouldn’t be too surprised if he takes a spot next year considering we don’t have any RHD except Murphy.

Thank you for some actual legit input.

I think our usual crybabies would be singing a different tune if all they had was the above info.

Acquiring one of the best dman in the SHL has me excited. For a 5th it's literally nothing to lose.

I was surprised to go onto youtube yesterday and not see any highlight packages of him in Brynas from this season. I remember watching the old Kruger highlights from back in the day.

So just fyi to you and anyone else wondering. The cap next year is going to be 93 million. Committed to next year we have 30 million in cap space with Weber’s contract.

Let’s say the sign Donato. RFAs are Crevier, Kaiser, Kurashev and Soderblom. Let’s be real, we aren’t close to cap signing all those guys, and even if we give Marner like 14 million, we’d still have room. It’s not your money so what do you care anyways?
I just think it can definitely be spent in a smarter way

Like ahl, you get lots of space to take time and make moves out there.

Is he eligible to sign after the SHL season ends in March for a few games or does it have to be next season. That's what I don't know about these deals

He was an RFA that chose not to sign with the NHL team. Because he'd be signing after December 1st in the year the original contract expired, he wouldn't be eligible to sign a contract that began this season. If he signs, it'll be for next year.

Rather than just bitching for the sake of bitching what complaint do you have? Please be clear because as I see this
A) The prospect coming to the Hawks is far better than anything they could hope for in the 5th round.
B) The actual dollars are at or near zero but any of it would be the owners money and of no affect toward the team.
C) If better expensive additions are not available the team isn’t forced to overpay trash (as they have the last two years)
D) If UFA’s are beating down the Hawks door they simply LTIR the contract and it doesn’t have any negative impact on signing players.

Tell me the downside?

Rebuilds usually take longer than 2-3 years.
