I like getting Shea Weber. He's a really good D man and has a 120MPH shot.

Oh wait, I didn't get in my Delorean and go back to 2011?

I don't hate it. We get 2 guys who might add depth to Rockford and Shea Weber's contract actually has a little value. He's only owed $2M with a $7.8M cap hit and it provides flexibility. It keeps us from having to overpay a bum to get to the cap floor and blocking a roster spot from a potential young player.

KD can always LTIR Weber and spend the money on real players if the deal is right. And all it costs us is a 6th rounder next year.

He wont respond, because he probably sees how dumb his post was now.
And yet @BHFAN92 wanted to accuse you of pivoting away from topics when being wrong

Where are you at we need to know how they could have landed him. This site isn’t having any issues anymore with the deadline passed. Why did you disappear. @BHFAN92 are you okay? Does someone need to call 911?

Webers contract is perfect for the hawks situation. We dont have to go overspend on 4th liners anymore. We can still go after any player we want. They can keep on IR to count against the cap or LTIR him if we go out and make a trade or sign big money in free agency.

Soderstrom is a guy you should take a chance on. Hes having a great season in Sweden and only 24 years old.

You never know.

I doubt Soderstrom fits considering he's only 5'11-6'0 and Kyle is essentially building the backend with big defenseman. But he was very good for Arizona's farm system last season and can maybe play and squeeze a pick down the road. I hope he plays for Rockford next season and helps them. I doubt Levshunov stays there all year next year and Rinzel might not be long either on the right side. Soderstrom would help that being a RHD. If not, throw him in the NHL and see what he has since it's basically just Murphy as a right shot D.

You can put him on a pairing with Vili Saarijarvi

As a swede and regular SHL watcher I like the Söderström add. He has been one of the best defenders in Europe this year and has regained a lot of the confidence he lost in Arizona/Tuscon. 37 points and +29 (best in the league) in 46 games this year for Brynäs. Wouldn’t be too surprised if he takes a spot next year considering we don’t have any RHD except Murphy.

Whey would he come back to NA to play in AHL?

He left to go back to Europe because he didn't want to play anymore in AHL when part of Yotes organization

No he left because their was a disagreement with the Yotes/Meruelo ownership. I don't remember what the disagreement was about but I do remember that was the cause and he wanted out. Yotes didn't trade him so he signed overseas instead.

The Meruelo group didn't own the team in September when signed in Sweden, they were already the UHC for months. He was mad at the coaching staff because he only got 3 games in the NHL the previous season. He would only comeback for an NHL contract.

Paying someone 7.8 million to sit for a year for scraps from Utah just doesn't make any sense. That is a huge number that could have been used to acquire an actual player in the offseason. Even if we sign a vet in FA for same amount at least they would be playing

His salary is only $1M and insurance covers much of it

When someone signs for that much with no term and is close to worth it, I’ll agree with you.

I think they only pay 10% anyway.

So just fyi to you and anyone else wondering. The cap next year is going to be 93 million. Committed to next year we have 30 million in cap space with Weber’s contract.

Let’s say the sign Donato. RFAs are Crevier, Kaiser, Kurashev and Soderblom. Let’s be real, we aren’t close to cap signing all those guys, and even if we give Marner like 14 million, we’d still have room. It’s not your money so what do you care anyways?

If Rundblad 2.0 was so good, he wouldn't be in Europe now
Forsling was playing in Europe until he wasn’t. I can name a few more guys brought in that did ok in the NHL. … Pius Suter? And those 2 are only guys brought over by Chicago.

So what’s the better move,
, taking the LTIR hit (money that has to be spent) and sending a 6th (? 2% chance of being a 4th liner) while getting a look at what some feel is a decent defensive prospect.
OR
SIGNING Ryan Reeves to a 1 year 6 million dollar deal?

People I got news Chicago is not getting Marner. The following year however there is a winger in Minnesota I’d throw boat full of cash at.
But if these kids grow right I’m not even sure that is necessary.
