I thought it would cost slightly more like a 2nd + 3rd or 4th, but not too far off.

Also, Ottawa’s 2023 2nd probably has more value than the typical 2nd thrown into a cap dump. So that could factor in only getting a future 6th.

Would he have any value if Blackhawks retained on him with that extra year and tried to trade him?

They have plenty of cap space to do so it, so you wonder if they could get another pick for him

Doesn’t make sense if it’s just clearing money.

He was already paid 2M bonus in July, which means he would have had like $1M left for the year.

If new Owners are paying $800M+ for a team, they will not give a f*** about $4.5M for Zaitsev next season.

This is PD clearing $ for their internal budget/salary cap to make a play at another D.
