Deal for me

I saw a bunch of habs fans in this thread laugh it off as if Beck was some untouchable top prospect
and then they compare him to Danault lol
Love the kid - been watching him for a while now, but yeah.. not untouchable.

Comparable, Danault was obtained with a 2nd rounder for Weise and Fleishmann.

That isn't really relevant as each draft has a different makeup. If this was a draft with an obvious number 2 (or a toss-up between 1 and 2), then it would be a different story. Nevertheless, the last 20 years its:

Malkin vs. Wheeler+Schneider
Ryan vs. Price+Matt Pelech
Jordan Staal vs. Kessel+Leland Irving
JVR vs. Alzner+Perron
Doughty vs. L. Schenn+Ennis
Hedman vs. B. Schenn+Palmieri
Seguin vs. Niederreiter+Kuznetsov
Landeskog vs. R. Strome+Danault
Murray vs. Rielly+B. Gaunce
Barkov vs. E. Lindholm+S. Theodore
Reinhart vs. Dal Colle+Scherbak
Eichel vs. Hanifin+Juulsen
Laine vs. Juolevi+T. Thompson
Nolan Patrick vs. Elias Pettersson+Oettinger
Svechnikov vs. Hayton+Bernard-Docker
Kakko vs. Turcotte+Pelletier
Byfield vs. Sanderson+Neighbors
Berniers vs. Kent Johnson+Lambos
Nemec vs. Gauthier+Mesar
Carlsson vs. Reinbacher+Musty

That's not even close to 8 out of 10. It depends on preferences, but its close to a 3rd with 2OA being better, a 3rd with 5+26OA being better and a 3rd being too soon or a toss-up/personal preference.

Malkin vs. Wheeler+Schneider
Ryan vs. Price+Matt Pelech
Jordan Staal vs. Kessel+Leland Irving
JVR vs. Alzner+Perron
Doughty vs. L. Schenn+Ennis
Hedman vs. B. Schenn+Palmieri
Seguin vs. Niederreiter+Kuznetsov
Landeskog
vs. R. Strome+Danault
Murray vs. Rielly+B. Gaunce
Barkov vs. E. Lindholm+S. Theodore
Reinhart
vs. Dal Colle+Scherbak
Eichel vs. Hanifin+Juulsen
Laine vs. Juolevi+T. Thompson
Nolan Patrick vs. Elias Pettersson+Oettinger

Closer than I thought to be honest. Thanks for going through.

Red - Franchise Player
Blue - Star/first liner/top pairing/starter
Green - top 6/top4
Orange - NHLer

14 draft years.

5 Franchise players with the 2 pick. 1 with the 5 pick
4 stars with the 2 pick. 11 with the 5 picks.
3 top 6 with the 2 pick. 5 with the 5 picks
6 NHLers with the 5 and 26 picks.

So it looks like I was off.

Much better chance of drafting a franchise player at 2 but better chances of grabbing a star player with the 5 and 26.

Joshua Roy have nothing in common with Danault.

Roy's an offensive winger with Nostradamus like anticipation capacity and surgeon like precision in his execution.

Danault's a shutdown center who can chip some offense.

No comparison whatsoever... apart from being both Québécois...

Hahah just pictured Roy's agent trying to get his client every possible penny on his contract using a line like "Nostradamus-like anticipation capacity" as a comparable :D thank you for that.

Roy impressed me at juniors because they forced him into the D FWD role and he looked good doing it. Then he went up to the first line because of his production. i also liked one year when he acknowledged that he needed to work on his focus and hard work and backed it up. But yeah, totally agree here that they are not in the same mold - kind of a Maverick vs Iceman thing there (talent/creativity vs. precision/technique)

I’m in a draft as Montreal on this site and I made a trade with Chicago that we both came out happy.

#2 and 34 for #5 and 26.

I guess it all depends upon who Chicago likes with the pick at #5. They move up 8 spots and get into a more desirable late first round pick.

I selected Demidov for the Habs at #2. I wanted either him or Lindstrom but I had the opportunity to trade up and take a super skilled forward which is what the Habs are lacking.

I believe the Habs will have at least a decent idea if Demidov is likely to drop or not, for me I would do it to make sure we get Demidov. Though the Habs would much likely prefer to trade from their blueliners since that's where we are overloaded so at some point some will have to be moved.
Watched some hi lights on Demidov, the guy kinda reminds of Datsyuk...
