Can someone explain to me how a guy like Ehlers who creates so much offence can’t get to a point per game player and a guy like Dubois, with his amazing skill, strength and effort, can’t either?
Yet Scheifele and Wheeler are doing it?!
It’s just not matching the eye test at all.

I guess pp minutes play a big part. But still.
I've thought the same thing myself, but I do think we'll see Ehlers with a couple 80 + point seasons. A lot of this has to do with him not being used on power play # 1, in my opinion. He has the speed, stickhandling ability, and hard accurate shot. If I was coaching this team, I'd use Ehlers on the point with Morrissey on power play # 1, and he's hit 80 points I think.

As for Dubois I think 70 points will likely be around his tops, as he plays more physical and is often in the corners, or tied up with some player, limiting his chances. His shot is good, but not on the level of Scheif, Connor or Ehlers.

All the Jets need is for Dallas or Vegas to go on a losing streak, and lose 4 games in a row, and we may make it in. Should be some entertaining hockey.

Perhaps people have been underrating 55 and 26's offensive abilities.

Ehlers is simple, he gets next to no PP time. He produces better then anyone not named Conner at 5 on 5. He also doesn't get the same amount of minutes at 5 on 5 as Blake and Mark.

Dubois isn't really a naturally gifted producer. He does a lot of the yeoman work to create zone time and offensive chances. He creates more then anyone on the team but he doesn't have the same caliber of hands and shot as Scheifele so he doesn't convert on as much. He also plays the spot on the pp that gets the least number of touches as the net front guy so he doesn't chisel as many PP points as a result. I'm not complaining he is the best person for that role so he's cast appropriately there.

Mark has elite offensive tools. High end vision and passing, good offensive instincts and an elite shot. He is very gifted offensively so he produces a lot. He is also run in all offensive situations and plays a tonne of minutes.

Wheeler still has high and vision and passing and has played on a pp and at 5 on 5 with a world class finisher so he still gets his points.

In terms of Mark and Blake it's never about what they produce its about what they give up to produce what they do.

Everyone is happy Scheifele got the GWG ... no complaints right?
But he was cheating and if the Coyotes player gets the puck first and passing to the wide open man in front everyone would be cursing at 55.
What Scheifele needs is a good defence behind him because we know he has the offensive skills.

Scheifele definitely cheats for offense but maybe he counts Helly as a defenseman because Helly plays the puck so much. :naughty::banghead::laugh:

^it's interesting that Perfetti and Toninato have as high p/60 without any secondary assists...

I think ppl are more accepting of risk taking 3 on 3.

I admire your optimism but it's not "Dallas or Vegas". It's "Dallas and Vegas" and don't forget Vancouver. Factor in the tough schedule the Jets have remaining and what the oddsmakers say (5-13% chance of Jets making it this season) and I'm not as optimistic. Hopefully, next season with a re-tooling of some sort......

That's kind of what 3 on 3 OT is about. Go get that bonus point. You are right that 55 always sacrifices defense for offense but in this case (I was 4th row directly across the ice), it looked like we had good position to win the puck and I was thinking the exact same as 55, break up the ice

That was not acting, that's just incredibly bad PR at one of the biggest events of the year on live television. Don't be surprised if Will Smith's career is done after that one.

He went on to win Best Actor and it seemed like a lot of the actors in the audience supported him. I think Chris Rock is going to take the worst of it, but he'll probably be fine too.

Regarding Will Smith, his wife has a physical condition where she is losing her hair, i would have slaped Chris Rock too . Rock doesn't need to joke about that . I actually think it's Rock's career that might get hurt from this not Will's .

Rock’s career won’t be hurt by it just like Chappelle’s won’t be hurt by making jokes about trans.

Good lord… these are comedians who push the edge. Should comedians now censor themselves to coddle the easily offended? JFC. Frankly, triggered people shouldn’t be going to comedian shows to start with since they can’t handle it.

Numbers and eye-test beautifully aligned. Do we finally have a 4th line? D pairs are interesting, more subdued game. JMo and DD mostly crushing it; Dillon and Pionk still meh, Heinola + Schmidt seems like a happy pairing. You play less D when you mostly have the puck, and therefore must clear fewer creases (see: AZ tying-up goal and one Dillon, B).
