Krug out...MaCavoy in, has the makings of a classic NHL story

If he is out I dont see any other choice but to bring McVoy in. They simply cant lose that type of transition and offence from the back end and compete. He really is their only shot right now imo.

Why is everybody advocating for McAvoy to replace Krug if he's out?

I'm as optimistic about McAvoy's future as anyone, but you'd rather a 19 year old D with 2 games of AHL experience try to break into the NHL playing meaningful minutes in the playoffs on his off-side than play Morrow or let C. Miller switch over? That's just crazy.

It is crazy.

Even more crazy if you consider they have 3 left-shot D-men in Providence who seem to be capable in a 27-year old Cross, a 23-year old O'Gara, and a 23-year old Gryz.

Miller, while playing in 100 more pro games than McAvoy, has one thing in common with McAvoy, in that neither has played one NHL playoff game and I`m one who is usually risk averse

The question will be IMO, if they burn a year of McAvoy`s contract, does he immeasurably make the Bruins a stronger team on the back end and would an opportunity like this, to be around a playoff atmosphere be more of a benefit to him than playing in the playoffs in Providence which, if I understand correctly, he still can if/when the B`s get eliminated at whatever stage?

We shall find out soon with an afternoon tilt tomorrow how the B`s feel

I do expect JFK to play tomorrow though, can`t see them signing this kid then stapling him in the press box forced to listen to Jimmy Hayes for 3 hours

What's apparent is they need puck movers to defeat Ottawa, not to mention someone to run our PP. Cross and O'Gara are not puck movers, although Gryz is, I would consider him, but to me McAvoy is so much bigger and stronger with great mobility, he also has run the PP for the US at the World Juniors. Kevin Miller can slide over to the left to accommodate CM.

Unfortunately Krug got injured in the first period against Ottawa and won't be back. Will we see McAvoy if Krug can't play against Washington?

Not if Joe Morrow has anything to say about it.:sarcasm:

Poor guy is wasting away in the rafters. Hard not to feel bad for him. He deserves better treatment than what he has received this season.

Yeah I don't get what the hell the Bruins were doing with him this season at all, either play him or send him down.

Cross is left shot

Love him

Cassidy guy

With Krug out you lose a left shot, but you also lose his PP presence, They could slot Liles in and bring in McAvoy to play mostly PP and mix in some easier matchups.

Krug made his mark stepping into the playoffs, maybe Charlie can do the same.

To me Grzelcyk is the logical call up but I'd still go Morrow first

He was on Cassidy first PP unit in providence

Why burn a year on ELC if there are other options? There is only one game left in the regular season. Playoffs start next week. Let's find out about Krug's prognosis before making long term decisions or one that would be regretted in a few years.

Morrow hasn't even got a whiff of the ice since Cassidy took over ,can't see him having any faith in him now.

Just to reiterate, I have no problem if they bring McAvoy up, burn the year and slot him in for the playoffs as the #6RD. That's incredibly valuable experience and I think he can probably handle that without hurting us...and the extra offense on the backend would be a plus.

Slotting him in for Krug on the left side is where I think people might be going way overboard with him. I don't think I've ever seen an NCAA defenseman jump straight to the NHL playoffs (even including the couple NHL/AHL games to end the season), and while McAvoy might be good enough to do that on the bottom pair, I want no part of him being in the top 4, especially on his off-side.

I definitely hope JFK will be in tomorrow too.

I'm going to once again cast my vote for "Do what is best for the 2018-2025 Boston Bruins". If they think calling up McAvoy, burning a year of his ELC is the best way to show commitment to him long-term and postive for his development, then I couldn't care any less if it might not be the best thing for the 2016-2017 Boston Bruins team.

I know people like playoff hockey. I know "anything can happen". But the Bruins aren't beating Washington in Round 1 if they see them and they likely aren't advancing past round 2 no matter who they play. I favor playing the odds here and betting on future teams. If they really think this kid is important for their future, then do what's best for his development and loyalty regardless of what it means for this year's team.

Grzelcyk is a top pairing defenceman

Subban and Krug had a full AHL season under their belt before they debuted in NHL playoffs. It's tough to go from amateur to professional as a defenceman. I don't care much about burning a year, that might even work out well in the long term. I just don't see how a guy with two professional hockey games would help much, unless he really is an exceptional talent in every way.
