Getzlaf with the unnecessary stick tap on Chara. Lucky he didn't get annihilated after what happened to Backes.

Getzlaf will get his come uppins one day.
Doubt it... getzlaf did what a captain should do and let chara know he didnt like the hit on henrique. What happened to backes? Or are you talking about the hit cause lol if so

Getzlaf is 1 of the tougher players in the league and really doesnt back down from anyone, as a fan of getzlaf im glad the refs got in the middle because we cant afford to lose him and like others have said he just came back from fscial surgeory.

Slashes Chara in the leg and then hides behind the refs. What a Captain. Ritchie learned well. Even a midget like Krug will drop the gloves after a questionable hit but this 240lb tough guy couldn’t get away fast enough.

Yeah, okay.

he hid behind the refs? which video are you watching?

he was about to fight before the refs stepped in

nice try

I hate when refs hold a guy back while the other guy gets free punches in on a guy being held by refs.

If they are going you have to let them go.

I think Boston getting a PP was a make up for the Backes/Ritchie call. Headshot or not, it was certainly late/interference variety.

Certainly? No. Arguably? Yeah, okay. Ritchie had him lined up before the puck even left his stick. In real time, that hit happened pretty quickly.

You guys forgot Getslaf just came back from having orbital surgery? Why would he risk getting punched and aggravating it ? Thats probably why Getz was hesitant.. Dude just had major facial surgery to repair bones in face.. lol
Then why would he slash Chara in the back of the leg and crosscheck him? He started it then hid behind the linesmen

Puck was good distance away despite flubbed shot.

I guess we disagree.

The puck was like 10 feet away, and not a single Boston player touched it between the time it left his stick and the time Ritchie hit him.

Your definition of a "good distance" must be wildly different than mine.

first time i saw the video, have no idea what bruins homers are seeing...Refs clearly stepped in and prevented Getzlaf from freeing up his arms. Chara on the other hand had his hands completely free and was able to get a sucker punch in. Garbage refs getting in the way there, have no doubt Getzlaf could've more than held his own. Despite what Chara stans would have you believe otherwise.

i guess there's a different feed i'm not seeing

getzlaf is ready to throw down before the refs got in between the two. not sure how this equals him hiding behind the refs

Getz would not have held his own against Chara lol

I doubt it. Getzlaf is probably the only guy on the Ducks who I feel confident could hold his own against Chara. Maybe he doesn't win the fight outright, but Getzlaf isn't afraid to fight anyone. I'm sure Getzlaf also didn't love the fact that the linesman got in the way, and Chara was allowed to take a freebie on him.

He sure seemed to try to have the ref in between him & Chara at all times. If that's not fear, it might be just a very strong instinct of self preservation. Nothing wrong with that.

In my observation, Getzlaf is pretty good at acting tough but never drops the gloves. That's why its unnecessary. If you didn't want to fight, maybe don't hack a guy on the legs.
I don't know that too many guys have tried to fight Getzlaf have they? I dunno.

He' 6'4 and 225 himself and I didn't exactly see him running away there even after facial surgery. Jus sayin

It's almost as if the official stepped between them, and it's against the rules for a player to physically move an official out of the way.

He's just a jaded rival fan.

IMO ten feet is enough for interference. Particularly as shot was flubbed. If it hadn’t been flubbed it would have been on goal.

IMO can’t smoke a player following through on shot.

Notice my use of IMO please.
