I doubt it. Getzlaf is probably the only guy on the Ducks who I feel confident could hold his own against Chara. Maybe he doesn't win the fight outright, but Getzlaf isn't afraid to fight anyone. I'm sure Getzlaf also didn't love the fact that the linesman got in the way, and Chara was allowed to take a freebie on him.

So Ritchie throws a clean hit; Chara responds with a late hit on a different player and starts throwing punches at Getzlaf when he's tied up by the linesman; extremely biased commentator complains and praises both of Chara's dirty plays.

Edit: not that Ritchie and Getzlaf are choir boys, or that Getzlaf would have done well in that fight.

why would getzlaf be scared of chara? he's the one guy on the ducks who could hold his own against the wrestler

also, lol @ anyone calling that hit on backes questionable. that's a textbook hit

Two big boys more than capable and more than willing to go.

Linesmen gonna get someone hurt there. League puts linesmen in bad position by giving instructions that should in some cases be ignored.

What a surprise...... a game referred by Rooney has issues. Does any fan base think Rooney is a good — or even capable — ref?

Late hit on a guy who just shot the puck IMO =/= not textbook.

That hit on a player with puck or carrying puck? Different story.

Just my opinion.

That's a bit inaccurate.

I agree that Ritchie's hit was clean, and if people want to argue his hit was late then Chara's was even more so. That being said, Getzlaf took a chop at Chara, probably in response to the hit on Henrique. He definitely sent signals to Chara there. It wasn't simply Chara getting pissed and going after whomever was closest.

I won't deny that I didn't like the linesman getting in the way, and I liked it even less that Chara got a free punch in. Getzlaf got an extra 2 for the chop, and it seems to me that Chara should have gotten an extra 2 for the free shot he got.

Yes I forgot to mention that Boston got a PP out of this somehow

Slashes Chara in the leg and then hides behind the refs. What a Captain. Ritchie learned well. Even a midget like Krug will drop the gloves after a questionable hit but this 240lb tough guy couldn’t get away fast enough.

Why is it unnecessary? Chara just took a run after one of his boys...its what captains do

Exactly. I have no problem with what Getzlaf did, and I have no problem with Chara turning around and wanting to go. Actually, in that situation Boston probably comes out ahead, and I still don't have a problem with it. Chara would be taking Anaheim's best player off the ice, and that certainly benefits them because they were down in the game. To me, they're both examples of the old style game, where they will stand up for themselves and their teammates, and lead by example.
