Nah. It was Ter Stegen that lost them the game today. It was over after minute 10, not worth putting the effort that required overcoming a good Monaco side. The logical thing was to sub your most important players and call it a day. Instead they played all game long. Ter made another mistake and still lost the game.

I like the effort but this will cost more injuries. League title is up for taking while Madrid is playing like crap

Rose switching back to the 4-4-2 was a mistake. The 3-4-3 they’ve been experimenting with in the buli would’ve given them better support in the areas that they got run over. Especially given how poor Vermeeren was.

Ya but that’s been happening a lot. One person just self emulates in this competition far too often. Whether it’s MAtS yesterday or Aruajo vs psg.

Madrid won’t win the league. It’s Barca’s for the taking. I ain’t worried at all. But they need to do well in this competition just for their own psyche

Last night was as good a performance from Celtic as they've had in Europe for a while. I know it was just Slovan, but they also went through a few playoff rounds and are the champions of their country, so 5-1 is nothing to turn your nose up at. Great atmosphere too, particularly second half.

Arne Engels is a baller.
IT'S COMING HOME TO PARADISE!!!!!

I've always enjoyed the CL through the years.... but I've gotta say... they did their absolute best to destroy it and it worked, this time, for me.

So many things wrong with it from top to bottom.
What's wrong with these cretins running things.....

I don't want to hate on anything new by default. There were a lot of absolutely useless games, or even groups in the previous group stage format, which should be reduced here.

Curious why that is. I’m intrigued to see how this new format plays out.
Why they ruined it for me?
Pot 1 teams playing 6 matches against weaker teams. No real worry to win the matches against pot 1 teams.
Too many games.
Weird confusing draw.
Pots.

Things that ruined it for me in no particular order.

Which pot 1 team doesn’t play at least 2 games against another top side to make this any different from groups in the past

Difference they added a set of games with a pot of teams that can hardly compete against pot 1 first teams and giving pot 1 _more_ games against less-pot'd teams.

It basically shows the discrepancy and how absolutely one-sided, ridiculously unfair, no chance, whatever you'd want to call it, a big club has compared to the bottom qualifying champions league teams.

_That_ is what really struck me about it. It is forever going to be the big top 10 mega corp teams over and over and over and over. More games to get to the same results? That is so boring. Little teams legs will wear to nubs long before a big giant team.

After Chabot had to shut down a 2-on-3 with Rouault, Millot opens the scoring off a Mittelstadt cross.
