No doubt. Even though some Swiss guy roasted SHL for being poor above, from Finnish point of view SHL teams are still filthy rich. A great example of that is that Kemiläinen plays for Rögle, not Tappara. But we have fairly good chances to fight back anyway! For reference, the betting market thinks Rögle wins about two games out of three, on their home ice. That means that the teams aren't considered exactly of equal strength but quite close to equal anyway.

what playingstyle does tappara have? rögle is very unswedish. they are pretty physical and play with lots of grit.

When it comes to Lines, a full healthy Rögle lines would probaly be:

Leo Bristedt - Adam Tambellini - Dennis Everberg
Anton Bengtsson - Ted Brithen - Daniel Zaar
Marco Kasper - Brady Ferguson - Ludvig Larsson
Oskar Stål Lyrenäs - Mattias Sjögren - Adam Edström
Linus Sjödin

Lukas Ekeståhl Jonsson - Vojtech Mozik
Tony Sund - Valtteri Kemiläinen
William Wallinder - Samuel Jonsson
Ryan McKiernan

Christopher Rifalk
Calle Clang

Tappara plays in Finnish style. It's not as extreme as it used to be some years ago, all teams in Finland including Tappara have become more Swedish. But Tappara still likes to control the puck and build long attacks. The team is strong near the boards and very patient. That's the recipe in domestic league against teams who usually have a very defensive mentality against Tappara. In the CHL our opponents aren't usually as defensively aware so we get more quick breaks. Tappara knows that style, too. But I expect that Tappara tries to control the puck and lower the pace of the game tomorrow.

Btw, Tappara just recruited a forward (Savinainen) and defenceman (Leskinen) from Jokerit. Both are eligible to play tomorrow. Since my last post Rantakari has left the team on the other hand.

Final was very intensive hockey by both teams, really enjoyed watching!

I can see the league getting bigger in the upcoming years.

I watched the game and enjoyed a lot, especially the atmosphere. Swedish fan culture is amazing. It also kind of sucked because it reminded me of old Finland-Sweden matches. The fins just cant´t score and in the end the swedes win it.

SHL will dominate this league for a long time. Now when the KHL most likely remains just an all russian league, the more and more quality players choose Sweden or Switzerland.

The Swiss have a max ceiling for foreign players. So yeah the SHL will kill it with all ex-KHL players.

Nevertheless, I do not like some of the rules of the competition. The final would have to take place on a neutral pitch. Rögle definitely benefited from home advantage.

Nobody cares about this tournament. Its a gimmick tournament. SHL players are worse than players from Liiga, DEL, NLA, KHL, Czech league, Slovakia League in EHT, WC and olympics.
Yeah which is why SHL consistently outperform these leagues in NHL draft after NHL draft.

I care, as do most Luleå fans The players who fight their way to the finals must care. The fans of teams that are successful seem to fall in love with the tournament. Frölunda bought in early on. Rögle’s fans are thrilled right now.

I think it’s weird that someone who cares so much about the EHT would bash the CHL.

Why is the CHL a gimmick tournament, what makes it so?

Why is the CHL a gimmick tournament, what makes it so? The teams are the same fighting for championships in their domestic leagues, they are carefully constructed and have chemistry together. I don’t know how much they all care for the round robin games vs second and third tier league clubs, but it’s getting pretty serious at least come the semifinals, in my experience.

The fan support is mixed but many seem to have bought into the CHL. Luleå played a home game versus I believe it was Augsburg a few years ago where 300 Germans fans traveled to Luleå to support their team, they seemed to care.

We fins care, swiss care, germans care, most of the Rögle BK supporters certainly cared. Hell even Frölunda cares although they have won the title more than anybody.

In Switzerland it's kinda mixed. Supporter groups care, regular fans often don't, sadly. I'm always ashamed when they have to cover the upper bowl for CHL games in Zurich so the arena doesn't look as empty as it is.

why i say nobody cares? its a new tournament with low price money and not much people in the stands. i hope this tournament grows.
I hope it contracts. Maybe go back to just Swedish and Finnish teams playing. Probably more lucrative than CHL.

The group stage of the Champions Hockey League is being drawn right now. Hradec Kralove - Frölunda, I must not miss it. Does anyone go to these matches and support their team?
