I'm very high on Nemec and have been since he was drafted, I see a lot of Pietrangelo in him. I do wonder what this means for the draft though considering we are so heavily connected to Verhoeff.

He's always seemed to thrive the more and more he got used and relied on. I think he'll do well but unless we fired keefe I don't think NJD was going to be the place for him to do that unfortunately

Parekh is 20 years old. Nemec is going to be plugged into the top pair in Calgary immediately. No toes getting stepped on for a few years still.

I thought Parekh was super hyped. I'd expect him to be taking a prominent role by the middle of next season.

They also need to pay Nemec now.

Calgary gets bent over in this deal. I’ve said for two years that Nemec’s value is based off his draft position. He hasn’t developed well enough to warrant this return.

Plus Calgary had to take a cap dump .

Unless he really cleans up his defensive game, adding Nemec to a blueline that already features Parekh seems a bit confusing.

Nemec is skilled but he is not good at all in his own zone.

I guess the Flames do have a decent amount of pure stay-at-home guys so I guess we'll see but...

I think you should like it. He has the upside to become a core piece and fits your timeline. Those don't come available often.

He is positionally a mess and slow, but somehow happens to end up in the right place and the right time to score goals. The annoying part is that's not really his job.

I'm seeing people in here say terrible haul, great haul, overpay, steal, he sucks, he's a star.

Nemec is a good player mismanaged by the Devils including Tom Fitzgerald who made multiple statements that he was going to trade him. Completely unprofessional.

Calgary has a steal. People post underlying defensive stats but remember the Devils were horrible defensively. Put Nemec with a good defensive Dman and he will thrive.

Shines in big moments, Has a bad time at figuring out what he he can be. He can be great offensively but suck defense or be great at defense but suck on offense. The upside is that he figures out how to find the middle between those two extremes or figures out the time and place to go each way.

Conroy must see something in Nemec that no one else is seeing. He paid the price for a #1D but not sure if Nemec emerges into a #1 in Calgary. Unless he uses Nemec in a package for other assets.

Or maybe he upgrades from WhiteCloud to Nemec and moves WhiteCloud in a deal. A lot of teams would be interested in WhiteCloud and on his bargain contract.
