You can't be serious saying that Brodie could be considered a #3 aka 2nd pairing defenceman. I'm an Oilers fan saying Brodie is a legit top pairing high end #2 at the least. Damn. I feel sick now. Thanks

This is my favorite post of this thread. And this is a Flames fan giving props to an Oilers fan. But yeah, in my opinion, Brodie is easily our most valuable defenseman. (Gio 2nd, Hamilton 3rd). If Larsson cost Hall, what would Brodie fetch? I hope the coach figures out how to use him soon.

Before I start let it be known in a habs fan. As we all are with our teams I may be a little homey with my offer but in all honesty I don't think it's as horrific as many habs offers in the past. Or many of the he proposals to begin with.

Either way here goes.

TO MTL

C BACKLUND
LD TJ BRODIE

TO CAL

LD BEAULIEU
1st Rd pick 2017
2nd round pick 2018
DD ( cap hit )

Fire away..

Thats a outright brutal offer for the Flames, they give up one of the better 2 way centers in the game and a top pairing young defenseman on a great contract for a 2nd pairing defenseman probably a mid to late 1st round pick a 2nd round pick next week and a cap dump.

Seriously that doesn't even get the conversation started, if a team wants Brodie the overpayment to get him is absolutely massive.

What a terrible suggestion in the OP, Flames hang up, change their number and give the new one to everyone but the Habs

Why would Montreal want Brodie though, when they have Sergachev coming? And honestly, any trade for Brodie to the Habs, I'd want Sergachev coming back.

I've been saying all along, Montreal and Calgary are not realistic trading partners.

As for Sergachev, he's not going anywhere but Montreal.

Well adding Brodie without really giving up anything off the roster would make Montreal the definite top contender in the East imo. Doesn't make sense for Calgary to trade Brodie but if he was available, I don't think Beaulieu or Juulsen + 1st would be THAT bad of a starting point.

Going forward having Brodie and Sergachev down the left side would be real nice

Brodie plays the right side despite him being a left handed shot. He's not nearly as effective on the left.

Also, **** no to the OP's proposal.

Haha classic habs fan proposal

I'd be sick if we traded Brodie for that entire package let alone adding backlund

Treliving would have to be off his rocker to trade Backlund alone for that package. Habs fans are utterly delusional about how much value their marginal scraps have.
