It is. Just not the CFL for whatever reason. Lots of our posters watch the NFL quite a bit. I haven't followed the Argos since Pinball took a shot at coaching.

To be honest, the game was way to intense to be on HF. Just like if the Leafs were in the playoffs i wouldnt be on here, too much of a distraction. Go Argos!
It was intense but it made for a really great game. To see the comeback by the Argos in the third and then see the Als pushing to tie it in the dying minutes of the game...and how close they were to actually doing it. It was edge of your seat action.

Argos Discussion: 100th Grey Cup
Great season boatmen. Figured it was a good time to start a thread and get this city pumped about a fantastic event next weekend.
Argos are doing what most Toronto franchises can't, get to a championship by turning on the jets at the right time. City should be rocking next weekend. Die hard fans and band wagoners unite! lets back this team.

I agree...it sure looks like the receivers in motion, cross the line before the snap all the time. I am not a big football fan but I find myself a lot more into the CFL game than the NFL game.....comparing it to hockey its like watching the NHL in the 80s (CFL) compared to watching it in the pre-lockout era (clutch and grab/dead puck era)..NFL. Canadian game with bigger field, smaller players, 3 downs...is much more wide open, IMO.

Similar to hockey being better on the smaller ice, football is better on the smaller field. It really highlights the speed, skill and makes for a harder hitting game.
I like all Football, to me NFL>>>NCAA>CFL.
The skill in the US Leagues is miles ahead.

a couple of things i need to get off my chest
#1: People bashing the argo's attendance...i was at the playoff game against the eskimos and i was wondering why the upper level was closed off??, i was thinking the argo's were too cheap to leave it open and pay for concessions or something, also because of this, the lowest ticket price was something like $60-70ish..im not sure who the idiot that was responsible for this but why not open up the upper bowl and sell some economical tickets for $25.00? i bet there is 1000's of more people that would have went, the montreal eastern finals were selling tickets for $25.00 in the upper level..i blame poor decision making upstairs for the low attendance
#2: whats with calvillo storming off the field after the game? why not show some class and why no mention of this in the media? i guess he gets a free pass for what hes accomplished in the past?
#3: anyone notice that the argo's received championship hats that did not even have their name or logo on it? like common really..i know the cfl is poor compared to other professional leagues..but seriously cannot come up with about $300 to make custom hats?

the game is much slower in the nfl the fourth down really slows it down
also the cfl > ncaa in terms of skill level
you are comparing men to boys here.
you do realize that cfl players are mostly ex ncaa stars? no random ncaa players make the cfl, only the best that dont make the nfl get into the cfl, they dont have any other options other than playing in the ufl and making very little money.
but in comparing men to boys you see how little you know, only the top 1 or 2 qbs in the ncaa at one time could probably lead a cfl team, they just arent strong and mature enough
Agreed. NFL is over-rated and dull IMO..Its reason for its popularity is in the gambling.....no other sport spurs on gambling as much as the NFL (In North America anyway).....and really the Superbowl is the biggest hyped up piece of crap in sports.

People bash Toronto for not supporting the CFL, but come on.. the city has outgrown the league. There are still a lot of older people who watch the CFL so the argos will be around for at least a little longer. But once these old extremely patriotic/xenophobic peeps are gone there will be little generation x/y fans to pick from. I mean the older ones don't really make it to the game but will probably watch on TV (this is why the tv ratings are decent).
Toronto has more selection when it comes to sports. No other city can relate, thus why we get negative feedback. It's far from the number 2 game in Toronto.

BC had the lions, canucks and the grizzlies.

And as for tv ratings in southern ontario, argos are far above the raptors and tfc and in canada are above every sport aside from the leafs.

Exactly, it's hard for people in small markets, like Regina, Calgary, Edmonton etc. to understand the culture of Toronto. No where else in Canada can you get as many options of sports entertainment as we do in Toronto. I'm in the minority when it comes to the CFL in this city. I love the CFL game and I love the Argos but for a lot of people it's just not on their radar. The CFL is so popular in these other cities because it's the only pro sports team they have besides their hockey teams. Here totally different animal. I really wish people would look at the whole picture before opening their mouth about Toronto and the negative spin they like to spill.
And it's not like we draw flies, we outdrew Montreal this season, and we consistently draw 22,000-25,000 a game. To me thats on par with the rest of the league.
I'm so pumped about the Argos being in the Grey Cup! Can't believe they made it, but it will be awesome to see them play at home in the championship game.
I think the reason that the CFL isn't as big here as it should be is the lack of teams and competition for the Cup. If the CFL had 10-12 teams you'd here a lot more people talking about it. I hope the expansion of Ottawa and then maybe to Quebec City or Halifax/Moncton will bring more interest to the league.

When you use CFL success and montreal in the same sentence you really have no clue what your talking about.. Remind me which team folded for half a decade and which is the 3rd oldest sports franchise in North America history? (answer: Montreal, then Argos for the latter)
in terms of where they are right now montreal is a successful cfl team, making money and consistently fielding a good team
i know they had a bad history
but they did get the als back and not the expos
personally i think an nba team could work in montreal, the game has good exposure in montreal
While I would call Montreal successful as a CFL franchise in terms of support, there's a perception it's a great CFL city and Toronto isn't. The Argos actually draw more fans. The Rogers Centre is so bad it makes you think it's empty for Argos games. The stadium in Montreal is terrific to watch a game. That is the big difference.
Are you kidding me? The Als came back because the CFL's Stallions were going to be wiped out by the Ravens of the NFL going to Buffalo.
CFL teams are NOOOO WAY near the price to purchase when compared to the MLB.

Actually you guys aren't far behind its only been the last 3-4 yrs that the Bombers have exploded in popularity.
This could be Toronto's opportunity to grab hold of the 24-35 crowd that has fallen in love with the Bombers here in Wpg and has made the home games into something that you just didnt see 5 years ago.
