For someone who doesn’t follow that closely, what’s been the catalyst for the turnaround this year?

A good who QB keeps the offence on the field
Deep deep receiving core, and now with Pimpleton have super speed to open up the field for the other really high end recivers
New offensive coordinator has much better play calls

Running game with Armstead is way better and he’s a good blocker.

D has always been good but now on the field way less so they are even more dominant - especially the line and linebacking core, they get so much pressure on the other QBs

Another win for the Redblacks. Looking pretty good. Dru Brown getting some time but also getting passes off smartly, looking pretty composed for a young QB. Lots of misdirection plays unlike the last years where it became a joke how they always ran it on 1st down. Kalil Pimpleton a new star and a small guy. Him and Dedmon returning kicks are going to scare a lot of teams. Defense looking pretty good as well. Masoli was dressed on the sideline but im not desperate to see him back yet. This team might be able to do something.

Masoli won’t see a down of football unless both Brown and Krum go down.

Broken down nicely!

there are 32 NFL teams, Rosters are 54 players, plus 16 practice squad. that brings the NFL total to 2240 players.
there are another 2-3 players per team, that are not associated with the team, but wait for a call up to the practice squad.
So some 2300 Players.

in 1974 the NFL was 26 teams and a fixed 45 player roster= 1170 players.

In 2024,
most NFL teams have 3 QBs on the 54 man. 1 QB on the practice. 1 QB at home waiting for a call.
So some 160 QBs are associated with the NFL
1974; 3 QB's per team @ 26 teams = 78 QBs

the CFL has to get players 2301 and higher in comparison to 1171 and higher in 1974
They have to get QB 161 and higher, versus 79 and higher in 1974

This has been the CFL's dilemma, the last 50 years. Canadas' pre WWII population is not growing and many pro Football players (like their hockey counter parts) are predominantly from that population group. Ditto for Non Black Americans.

The African American population of the USA has boomed, but so has NFL demand. So, no net gain.

It is not easy when you are looking for QB #162, running back #162, Wide receiver #162. Your left tackle is #162. The rest of the O line is Canadian and would never get a sniff of the NFL.

Life has changed a great deal for the CFL over the last 20-25 years.

Nobody watching the game tonight? I'm not a fan of the Thursday games personally, but these are two of the surprisingly good teams early in the season. Would like to get out to Ottawa to catch a game, looks like a great place.

Yeah. Crum doesn't cut it. But the Sask quarterback hasn't played well either. The rain was crazy.

2 blocked field goals yikes. Crum was able to run the ball fearlessly himself a bit. But points at a premium tonight
