I'm happy with the decision. I get so tired of the CFL's recycle machine and rinsing off guys who really haven't demonstrated very good results. Time to let some younger guys step into the fray.

I guess Hervey is bringing Zimmerman with him too which will leave Simon on the outs?

Commanders not bringing back old Redskins logo despite misleading reports

They might bring back the logo though, and possibly change the name to something like "Warriors" or the like.
Washington Warriors sounds great and creates something more upbeat, like Atlanta Braves. A term of honor. Much better than Redskins.

My understanding is that nobody associated with the team liked "Commanders" but it will probably stick anyway. Vanilla scoops for everyone.

Apparently Simon is in the running for the Ticats GM position.

The EE were ready for some serious changes and I think its good.

LT hinted at the fact that he was going to shuffle the deck--in his various interviews--so no surprise.

Ed Hervey has had limited success as a GM but I think he has more ability in terms of assessing talent than the other guys we've had thru here so that's a positive.

An experienced GM and a rookie head coach might work. Who knows, maybe a kick return for a touchdown in 2025?

I can see it happen for sure, maybe more than once. Calgary's special teams were always pretty special under his watch. And I'm sure he'll figure out pretty quick which guys to put where to get that success. (Jevon Leake says hi)

Yes, I will never understand why Leake wasn't given dual roles as halfback and kick returner because returning kicks isn't nearly as dangerous as halfback where you are always taking a pounding.

This is one example of where new ideas are necessary.

Iam happy Hervey just didn't mail it in with the interviews and hire Campbell. Well done Ed.

I don't think he has his Dad's intelligence.
From all I've seen & heard, Rick Campbell is a decent coach and human being. His dad was arguably the greatest HC in CFL history, which speaks to football intelligence, I guess. Having a roster that was absolutely stacked with talent didn't hurt Hughie either.

I am impressed that the Eskimos are as relevant at this time of year in a good way.

No playoffs and there is actually some decent hype around a club who really lost a lot of people lately. Usually by now nfl and nhlhas taken over and cfl is an after thought, but for first time in long time Eskimos still being talked about

I am intrigued by the hire. The one big positive that would have come with hiring Campbell is he likely would have brought in some experienced coordinators.

I’d still love to bring back Maksymic as offensive coordinator but I’m not sure if that will happen without Campbell. Sherritt is obviously an interesting name for defensive coordinator but it’s definitely a gamble with his lack of experience.

Lack of coaching experience can be made up with playing experience though

I mean just in general coaching hires is so wild in pro sports. You never can tell until you start seeing the guys in action

I'm less in the know, and following less but I don't know how Kilam is a slamdunk great hire as head coach here when he hasn't been that elsewhere and where he has instead been an assistant coach on a losing and failing Stampeders club.

So I'm not understanding others reactions. Is the support of this just due to avoiding Rick Campbell as head coach or do people think Kilam has what it takes?

Seems odd to me as well Kilam is signed 3yrs as headcoach when he's barely been anything other than special teams coach or strength conditioning coach in Calgary. Yes I know he's been assistant coach for a few seasons. Calgary let him go for undisclosed reasons. So that we're hiring a person who has never been a headcoach and one who was even let go as an assistant.

Fair to say as well that Ray Jauch was the one that brought the club back to prominence and that turned a bad team to a contender. Hugh Campbell did take over a club that was likely headed for success. That said I feel Campbell was a great coach and maybe with schemes that put the Esks over the top.
