Not sure whether to laugh, be amused or afraid. Never thought of that angle, Whoah.

You’re evil.

Can't take credit for it, someone mentioned it on Elksherd and who knows, he may not be terrible as president even though he was terrible as Commissioner, but I'd rather look elsewhere.

For some people on here, they'd maybe glad to hear that I heard through a pretty good source that he's either in favor of a name change back or at least was opposed to the change in the first place.

If Fleming is named Prez a whole bunch of the old timers who left will likely come back and buy season tix. Could be looking at thousands more in attendance per game next season.

Holy shit was that an embarrassing & pathetic interview by Gregor with Tre Ford (embarassing and pathetic by Gregor). Incredibly weak/unprofessional. If he had a scintilla of introspection, he should be ashamed.
Ford comes across as a decent guy, but he also comes across as a guy who really doesn't take responsibility for his shortcomings.

Fleming didn't want the job but I think the Morris pick is solid.

Morris inherited a very tough situation at the U of A and turned it around.

Hopefully he can do the same with the EE.

From a football perspective - good move.

From a business perspective - I don't know if he would have the chops to handle the massive challenge and complexities associated with this organization.

If the play is fixing the Football Ops side, get the team winning, and then the fans will organically come back, then he's probably a great pick. I just don't know if that's truly the right play or not.

So it's Chris Morris as Prez. Mixed feelings. Rebuilt the Bears program but failed this year miserably.

Like the Edmonton football ties, but it's extremely concerning his first role in professional sports is as President and CEO while also having zero business background outside a bit of administrator experience as a Principal.

He ticks a lot of boxes. He really needs to hire the right GM

Not as concerned with the financial part of it, just hire a good CFO.

Morris just needs to set the tone and direction of the organization.

I like going with a football guy for the position. The CFL is too niche to bring in another outsider who was successful only in non-football related endeavours. Thompson ran an enormously successful business, I'm thinking him or his people will be able to handle that end of things if Morris lacks the experience to do so. Having a prominent local alumnus back in the fold is a positive thing I believe.

To some extent the President's position is a "figure head" anyway.

I'm sure LT has a number of associates who can offer the right financial advice. I'm sure LT could do it himself if necessary.

We had some "business types" in there previously-- like that beer salesman-- and that didn't turn out too well.

Presson supposedly had the same credentials --but was sent kicking stones within 2 years.

Neither one knew anything about football.

Morris is the first guy that makes some sense to me since Hugh Campbell. Surprised its not Fleming though.

The Bears team was excellent. Rolled UBC in Vancouver to start the season and was poised for a strong season. Lost their excellent QB and top running back, both among Canada West best and the season slid away thereafter with an inexperienced backup QB.

Morris has done a real solid job with building a strong, competitive Bears program. This could be a real good hire especially with strong insight into USports Canadian talent.

Did not see that happening with regard to Chris Morris. He seemed like he had a good thing at the university. Like others said probably $$ decision for Fleming.

CFL BOD, step up and make a quality hire for Commish!!

Had nothing to do with big leads his defense gave up in the biggest games down the stretch. Keep Gass away.

The owner has a lot of business background. Morris can focus on the the football ops. LT can handle the business side and hire the right people for marketing.

Great owners hire a good ceo and in turn people that can handle the various aspects of business . The less they are involved other than looking at the year end financials, the better.

EDIT - even in the CFL.

I think they had a fair number of injuries but notable was QB and elite running back. They lost their last 3 games by a total of 18 points. Fair point that their defense did give up a lot of points. But they weren't the same without their two engine players. Last year's o and d lines were massive and manhandled the U Sask Huskies (and others).

Morris ticks a lot of boxes for their executive leadership position. Ex-Eskimo and Pro football experience brings that credibility along with deep history in Edmonton. The new private ownership will bring financial acumen and corporate relationships to the table.

Now without a bush league board of directors, the President can go about hiring his staff.

Amongst those qualities as CEO does he have the business acumen? Maybe not fully needed given the approach.

Sounds alike the owner and CEO are co-chairing this venture. Given the situation for the Elks and as a new owner that might be the most successful approach for the enterprise.
