Retirement of some pretty good Cancon. This guy was an absolute beast tight end/receiver for the elite Laval program (spits as writing this) and carried that into a bit part career in the NFL. 6'5" 256 pounds and a 4.8 sec 40 yard dash.

One of those draft and park elite Canadian talents. I followed him loosely as a Hail Mary Riders draft pick. Goes to show the quality of homegrown Canadian talent but also reality of bigger NHL money and prestige. Retiring at age 30 and no where is there consideration to play in the CFL.

I honestly wonder about Leake. Seems like we've gotten some good returners before only for them to do nothing. Or let guys go only to see them do well.

Won't deny he can be a game changer, but I sure hope we don't suck the talent out of him

As we all know there are many moving parts to having a successful return game, and our overall structure has just been ‘off’ for seemingly forever. Hopefully this signing is the springboard to righting that ship.

Have to think if they can't get the special teams going that there is a coaching job on the line.

I mean you should essentially just be mimicking Toronto's scheme that they were running last year with him. Granted maybe you don't have the personnel to fully execute that, but let's not try reinvent the wheel here and try outsmart everyone else.

You can’t suck the talent out of Leake. *IF* the blocking and schemes are there, he’ll be great. If not, he won’t have impact.

The Riders are loading up for a chaptionship; they’ll be very strong. We’re improved but looking at the other teams’ signing, there will be significant improvement around the league.

Riders using a 'get out of cap jail free card' this year or what? Everybody and their dog has been signed by the Riders this off season. Mace seems to be a popular coach that players want to play for. Good signing.

Unless we sign soon to be NFL-retired Jason Kelce and get some of that Kelce- and sister in law Swift ju ju, the demographic that ignores the CFL will continue to do so.

Apart from the QB position, it's been a relatively quiet off-season for the Elkimos and that's the way I like it. Not as much turnover as other years and perhaps its a sign that some stability and familiarity is setting in with the roster. You can't go with guys who have never met before and expect great results on the field.

The only surprise for me is Ealy because I thought he looked good on that D-line but Jones thinks the Canadian linemen are just as capable and that's why Ceresna and Ealy became expendable.

Moore has re-signed at the receiver spot and I think he's proven to be very capable as well.

The problem remains in the defensive backfield. Jones seems to be banking on the fact that his 3 rookies will mature and let's hope that's the case. Otherwise it will be another very long season.

Sister in law? This celebrity stuff makes me laugh. The shelf life is usually 3 years.

Gregor applauded this yesterday on his show. In any sport how many teams build around a period where you have to overpay to get guys to fill 5 or 6 holes, but then realize if you have 40 other bad players it really doesn't matter. Mentioned at least they focused on a position they are horrible.

Now assume they can pick and choose a bit and not start overpaying 30-40k on a bunch of guys.

Which position did he think was horrible? I know there could be a few different answers.

He was alluding to the return game that no one seems to remember when it was good lol
True, its been terrible but the defensive backfield has been just as bad for just as long. Here's hoping that a couple of no-names emerge back there.

So much for any hope that they would at least pretend to let Ford think he had a chance to start.

The Elks also signed like 3 QBs earlier this offseason. They all have decent stats from college/lower tier leagues. Should be a good competition in TC.

I guess competition for the third man practice roster spot, that's about it.
