I think this is a decent trade for the EE.

Ceresna didn't have a great season in 2023 and good Canadian talent is always hard to come by.

Two Canadian receivers now who can challenge for starter positions.

I thought the trade was pretty even TBH Gittens is good, Canadian, and has good chemistry with MBT. Only issue is that we now have a hole on the interior DL that I’m not sure Ealy and Pelley can necessarily fill.

Import D-linemen are plentiful. Bring in 3-4 guys to camp and you’ll find someone close to Ceresna in ability if your scouts are decent. Finding a National reciever like Gittens is almost impossible unless you are paying a premium for a free agent or drafting and developing one.

Import lineman are relatively abundant.

As the EE have found out in the last decade, Canadian talent that is legitimate starter quality is rare.
I’m struggling to remember the last Canadian receiver who had even close to 1000 yards for the Eskimos/Elks. Getzlaf? He was past his prime when he came here though. They’ve used a few high picks on recievers the last decade, but none that I can recall turned out decent.

Nate Coohorn had some good moments but its been a real drought at the Canadian receiver spot(s).

Tevaun Smith was supposed to be the answer but that didn't pan out.

The EE have really struggled to find enough good Canadians to fill the mandatory "7' Canadian starter roles.

Konar has been cut at the LB spot so they will be looking to find a replacement there.

This season you need to have: 1 "global player" (how silly, how does this make any difference)

-8 Canadian starters but one can be a "nationalized American."

You guys are deep with Canadians

QB:Ford
WR:Gittens, Cobb
C:Korte
G: Grohovak, Thomas-Kurdyla,
T:Boyko, St.John
DT:Pelley, Charles-Pierre, Acheampong
DE: Curtis, Plamadon
WLB:Broqrique, Appolon Twins, Shackel
SLB:Makonzo, Domique
S:Hutter, Taylor

I think it's your import scouting that is the problem.

The potential on the Canadian side is certainly higher than it has been for years. One thing I will say for Jones is that he has placed more importance on the Canadian draft than DM ever did.

Cobb was the most pleasant surprise on the roster last year apart from Ford.

Pelley is a beast but had injury problems last year.

A lot of younger canucks who look like they are emerging but we'll see if they can continue that upward trend this season.

Exactly! I think Grohovak will be a starter at LG this year. His one start last year was amazing.

That's going back 4 GMs ago.

Very disappointed by the MBT news. This guy is nothing special at all, but it's already clear he will be handed the starting job because he's American and can (inaccurately) throw the ball 75 yards. Corn had the shittiest training camp of all QBs last year, and still got 7 starts to ruin the season. There will be no competition in camp if history is any indication.

I was on the fence about renewing season tickets for 2024; my strong suspicion that Ford will not be starting many games just made that decision extremely easy.

Never been a big fan of Ceresna, think he's highly overrated. Piled up lots of sacks against inferior offensive lines, but really did nothing against the good teams. Don't know too much about Gittens, but we'll see I guess. Needed someone to replace Dunbar.

Ceresna out should instantly result in fewer penalties, that's for sure. Not sad to see him go. The D-line needs a couple big run stoppers added, this makes some room.

I have a contact with ties to the Arizona Cardinals who says we’ve signed a really good player. The Cards are very stingy and the player has been unable to connect with another team for more than a quick look. He predicts good things.

Elks cut Gainey today. Defensive backfield is in for another interesting season.
Always liked Gainey. When he was with the Riders. But he's gone downhill pretty fast and seems to have lost a step or two. Had good vet leadership, but just couldn't do it on the field anymore.

Wonder if hat guy will be back to prance and cheerlead back and forth on the sidelines every game.

Apart from Lewis (who still had some shaky moments) there isn't one guy in the defensive backfield that looks like a ball hawk.
