Like I was saying about Inter Messi
I don't think people are expecting Martinez to be a regular starter capable of playing a full 90. My guess is given how he's been the past couple of years, he can probably start some games when the schedule is packed tight and able to give around 60 - 70 minutes but more so come on in the second half as a sub more often than not over the course of the full season.Yeah he was a leading scorer at 4 goals among forwards.. and he came in late in Summer while everyone else played the whole season here. I wonder how they're going to use the forwards this season. We have Coccaro, Martinez and Opuku that could be regular starters
They're going to micro manage Martinez, for sure. I don't see him playing a full 90+ minutes match too often.I don't think people are expecting Martinez to be a regular starter capable of playing a full 90. I'd suggest listening to last weeks Sick Podcast with Marinaro and Jorge. They spent time looking at different potential formations and I think the expectation is that Coccaro will probably start as the lone man up top with Opoku starting behind him. Then maybe later add a Martinez or move Opoku up to a two or even 3 forward formation.
Who knew having old farts in a team could lead to that
I guess it's only on appleEdit. Misread the post

Breza still terrible
I caught a glimpse of the game and Courtois has the GK practically at the border of the surface during build up.
lmao Good luck Breza.
It's a very very high press. Coccaro had two grade A chances 1 on 1 agains the GK but failed to convert. His intensity is super high though. Runs like his life depends on it.
Coco and Iankov have to get used to the MLS style, so we might see them be a bit lost at times in the first few weeks. It does feel like Wanyama and Piette will be out of their comfort zone a lot and will need to find it again, which might be harder for the former, since the latter at least has great cardio/motor ( Wanyama is better with the ball though, so he might actually be better suited) . Time will tell, I'm guessing Courtois is still experimenting with a few things. He has a lot of cards to play with, which is a great problem to have,Yesterday was certainly.....something. The extremely high press is going to be interesting because we have guys that either due to age, or lack of skill, aren't going to be able to stay up that high (Wanyama and Piette). But I've always said that in order to be successful, you NEED to attack with at least 6 players so having one on the field playing deeper with the high press will be fine but it also confirms that both of them can't be on the field at the same time unless we're defending a lead or trying to maintain a draw.
Really don't like the extra CB's we were playing yesterday. It's just begging to be exploited or have many mistakes. I'm hoping that they're simply trying it out to see if it works and will then get rid of it once it burns them. It already did a few times yesterday so either they get better quickly or I hope they abandon it.
Breza did what Breza does and it's nothing good. Can it change? Sure. But for now, yikes.
Coccaro is not going to make any friends in this league. You could tell that right away.
Yankov aside from the goal I didn't hear much of him. Duke was a mixed bag. Tried and was succesful on some very creative played. Had two really good chances, one to score and one pass for an easy tap in. Both failed. That will come with time though.
Lassiter did what Lassiter does, which is good things. He is going to make it very difficult to keep him out of the Starting XI.
Doody did well. Choiniere did really well. Saliba same thing.

I still think re: Lasstier that Raheem the dream gets the nod at first. But he's a good sub at LB that's for sure.
Iankov and Coc played only 30min I believe yesterday (of the 120). Duke was more noticeable as he was the one making all the runs and plays from the whole midfield. He's the one that has the most to lose with the new players coming in. Saliba was probably the best Mid. I'd probably start him over Choinière with one of Piette/Wanyama. He'll probably get sold next year
Maybe, maybe not. I believe Raheem didn't play yesterday. Illiadis played the first 60 and Lassiter the 2nd 60.
On the right, Ruan played 60 then both Doody and Schiavone played 30. Doody looked more poised on both sides of the pitch. Schiavone is listed as a midfielder so that may explain a bit
