I don't get why they have to kayfabe it like that TBH. People have known for days now, there's no secret to keep, unless for whatever reason his name isn't on the contract yet so there's a 1% chance he might balk at the last moment.

For me, I think it was more a case of until the contract isn't officially signed, they didn't want to make any kind of announcement, even if the trasnfer was agreed upon and the player was on social media openly saying his goodbyes to his friends and teammates.

They did the same with Iankov. We knew the transfer was agreed and reports were saying he was also saying his goodbyes. Even his coach had mentioned he was leaving. But CFMTL said nothing until the contract was signed and then they made the official announcement.

There is also the particularity of the MLS having control over player signings and announcements.
