Interesting stats so far and obviously a tiny sample size but Macklin has scored all of his goals at home this season. 8 goals, 3 assists in 8 games at Home compared to 0 goals, 5 assists in 11 games on the Road.
He's an entertainer, eh?

Or maybe it's his mom watching from the stands that gives him a little something extra.

Well on the main boards, Lane Hutson is apparently ahead of Celebrini in the race! You know, the -12, 8 primary assists, and 0 goals in 30 games Lane Hutson.
I decided against ever going into that thread before Michkov's recent hot streak. I can't even imagine how intolerable it much be right now. Best to avoid it altogether.

Posted this on purpose knowing Macklin would read this and immediately prove he aint no slouch and can score on the road as well

I don't necessarily think of Smith as soft so much as it is that he simply doesn't have the strength to play like Celebrini does, even if he wanted to. Now do I think he'll ever want to have that level of defensive compete? No, but I think over time he'll probably get to a point where he's at least competitive in puck battles and not as easy to push around on the ice.

But the Sharks definitely need more physicality at the wing position.
I have no problem with Smith not being a physical player. If he tried to play that way it would be bad news for him. The reference to Pavelski is a good one, though Pavs had better strength--lower center of gravity, basically--which helped, but we'll see how Smith develops. I think it's important for guys to be encouraged to play to their strengths as they develop, and see how they can develop a better all-around game as they get older.

More physicality at the wing is definitely something we will want/need. I have in the past compared Musty to the Rangers' Will Cuylle, just sort of based on size and potential play-style, but I've been super impressed by Cuylle's breakout this year in his second NHL season. He'll be 23 in February, so I think it's important we keep that in mind with Musty. In a couple years he may well be able to start developing a game like Cuylle's that can translate very well to the NHL. That would be awesome for both him and the Sharks. Let's hope he can do something like that.

Somebody's going to have to put together a highlight reel of all of Macklin's defensive excellence. Not like that'll matter to anyone who thinks Michkov is the second coming, but it would at least allow us to feel superior.
