Do you guys see stank and bourque as 2nd liners in the nhl?

Like clockwork.

But Bourque is trickier. Playmakers have historically been misunderstood (as evidenced by the dippy lineup decisions some coaches make - lol Pascal Vincent), and someone like Bourque is gonna need a Duchene-type to really solidify himself as second-line material. Kind of like how Hintz' speed unlocks all of Robertson's game. (Different players, granted.)

Just saying.

One thing I think Bourque will really stand out on his his work on the powerplay. He works his side similar to how Kucherov works on the Tampa powerplay (not as creative, but similar structure). Every time that puck gets to him he's both a threat to shoot and pass, and his ability to one-time shot pass is next level. Tremendous precision and accuracy with his shot passes combined with his great one-timer make him so dangerous. Add to that he has the positional awareness of Johnston and you're looking at a very effective player all around, just not as individually skilled or as good of a skater.

And there it is: his fifth in two games with a one-timer.

Tremendous offensive zone shift by Stankoven and Bourque (Grushnikov actually getting involved as well). Bourque with multiple chances, Stankoven with a couple too all within 30 seconds. 2-1 Texas still though. Incredible chemistry between those 2

Pouliot/Bourque/Stankoven >> Bouchard/McDavid/Draisaitl
Real shit though, Bouchard is absolutely braindead defensively, it's almost impressive. He's got a ridiculous shot from the point though, can't deny that. Even playing with Ekholm that pair gets destroyed consistently

Ben Berard gets his first AHL goal now. 3-1 Texas

Poirier has had an outstanding night btw. Some big time saves. Halfway through the 3rd still a lot of time but he's been great so far. He's out-played Cossa for Grand Rapids in back to back games now.

Oh man Stankoven with a phenomenal move to cut to the net but he gets stopped by Cossa. Would've been a gorgeous goal. Earlier on that same shift, Bourque left the ice with an apparent hand injury. He's still on the bench but we shall see if he's okay

Edit: he's fine

Reedy scores off a nice feed from Stankoven on the PP. 4-1 Texas

Grand Rapids was so focused covering the Bourque one timer that time that they completely abandoned Reedy in the slot lol. Stankoven with 2 assists tonight, 5 assists in his last 2. All primary, 4 of the 5 on the PP. The other at 3v3.

Texas powerplay is nearly unstoppable it feels like. So automatic out there

4-2 game now. Broken play leads to an open net for Grand Rapids. 6:50 left

Karlstrom scores into the empty net for Texas. Seminoff intercepted the puck and set him up for it. Wild sequence though, Texas had a ton of shot attempts towards the empty net blocked or even off the post. Bourque, Karlstrom, and Seminoff though with outstanding efforts to eventually get it to go

Texas will win 5-2. Scratch that, Caamano scores immediately off the following faceoff to make it 6-2.

Texas officially won 6-2. Cossa and Grand Rapids were all pissy at the end it was pretty funny. Can't blame them, they got beat by Texas in 3/4 games they played these past couple of weeks.

Stankoven 2 assists
Bourque a goal
Grushnikov his first goal
Seminoff assist
Poirier a great night

Texas doesn't play again until December 29th

While Murray is up Remis AHL backup options are a collection of guys with pretty meh to bad ECHL numbers ( on a really good ECHL team ) . So he's going to play alot in the next while. Dunno who Jared Moe is but his numbers don't inspire confidence at all.
