oof

Shoulder ready for camp potentially.

and he's probably one hard check away from being out all of next year.

So many red flags with a guy like that who has seriously messed up each of his shoulders on separate occasions in such a short time. Given the importance we place on defense, we really can't afford to take that kind of risk in going into next year when we can put that salary to better use and just spend time getting guys like Bean and Fleury ready to play from Day 1

He fits our needs so perfectly that I know it won't happen.

- RHS LW
- Volume shooter than can occupy the left half-wall on the PP
- Budget-friendly AAV with term and a frontloaded structure with no further bonuses
- On a team outside of the conference

Waddell needs to be on that if the cap makes him available.

Agreed; I just don't see why Vegas would make him available of all the options.

I think it's more likely Patches or Stastny heading out.

Prediction: we deal for Haula and Miller, then flip Faulk for another forward.

I hope we're aiming higher. We've got the ammo to go big-game hunting. Having said that, I think the Canucks gave up too much for J.T. Miller and I hope we don't use that as a template.

AND, if we could flip Faulk for another forward, don't you think we'd have done it by now?

Yeah but no one thought Turbo would be available from Chicago or a honest to goodness 1st rounder for no return from Toronto when they were up against the Cap, and decisions had to be made.

Strange things happen when teams are up against the cap.

If we trade McGinn, we are going to start next season without two of our most regular PKers. McGinn leads the forwards with total TOI 182:25, de Haan is third behind Slavin/Pesce (with over 147 minutes). Hmmm.

Honestly other than Haula/Turris/Kilorn/Palat/Johnson, I don't see lot of available options around the league.

Marchessault for a 1st, a 3rd, and one of our prospects not named Necas, Bean, Suzuki, or Geekie.

I was hoping for Marchessault, Miller, Subban, and Haula. Saves them about 12 million. Which they need all of that to re-sign Gustev, bring up Dansk as a backup, and bring up whitecloud while fitting under the cap. Gives us 13 million in cap hit, after signing Subban.

I'm not predicting it, but I think the logic would be that they paid a big price for Pacioretty (they must like him), Stastny is needed as a transitional center for Glass and Gusev seems miscast for a Bottom 6 role. Vegas fans have tossed his name out there as a potential cap casualty, for what that's worth.

As in Marchessault's name?

Emotionally it sucks because CDH is a good guy who played hard and pretty well for us.

That being said, as a high-paid member of our defensive group and coming off major surgery he should have understood that a trade was a possibility. This is the NHL, for god's sake. He just saw Rask get traded 18 months into a 6-year contract.

Yeah.

I was taken aback at first, but the Knights really do have some insane wing depth now with Stone and Gusev added to the mix recently. Tuch is a 3rd liner in Vegas; how many teams would he be a 1st liner on?

Every single one of Vegas's forwards 1-7 Cap-wise (Stone, Pacioretty, Statsny, Karlsson, Smith, Marchessault, and Tuch) would be the Canes 2nd or 3rd best forward next year. That doesn't even consider Gusev and Glass who could also fall in that category by the end of next season. Crazy forward depth.

After adding Soderberg today Phoenix also has a Center overload. Derek Stepan, Nick Schmaltz, Christian Dvorak, and Clayton Keller are all capable of being top-6 Cs with Carl Soderberg and Alex Galchenyuk (W) not too far behind.

I feel bad for CDH the man, I really do. It's a tough deal for him.

But it's not like he got sent to Ottawa or something. There are worse things than living/playing in Chicago.
Yes, but there aren't much worse things than the lake effect snow drifts in Chicago and the need to shovel driveways for anyone with f***ed up shoulders
