Great exposure for all at the Showcase this weekend.

Saw 6-7 NHL teams there, lots of D1 schools, lots of D3 schools a few prep schools as well as several scouting agencies. This seems to be better than last year. Unsure of how this compares to previous years but the one stop scouting approach seems to make people come. U18 and CCHL2 teams would never get this in any other situation.

SOAB why would you thank Kemptville?
Thank the player and his talent. He got this chance and Mississauga drafted him out of Minor Midget AAA before he played a game in Kemptville.

Well I am sure the season he spent with the 73's was still beneficial to his development. I think people can be grateful to organizations for helping with a players development and simply state that on an online forum. It is obviously up to the player to put the work in but can't take anything away from a team because their job is to help advance players to the next level.

Evan DeBrouwer

What is the status of Evan DeBrouwer who played goal for the SF Bears last season? DeBrouwer had a 2.59 GAA to go along with a .913 SV%. And, played 52 games for the Bears. He still had 2 years of eligiblity.

16 year old cards

I thought that 16 (and 17?) year olds in the CCHL could not be from out of branch. Brockville has a 16 year old goalie from Quebec on the roster so clearly this rule either changed or I totally misunderstood it.

Does anyone know ??

This could happen because(I am taking an educated guess) Brockville and other CCHL1 teams have set up with local schools to run hockey programs. Could a benefit of that be the school board will not oppose school transfers from another area. Therefore the player did not leave his area to play hockey he moved to go to school and ends up playing hockey. HC/HEO would have a hard time proving otherwise. Plus the parents approve.
Another HC rule busted.

I think it's the same rules that minor Hockey parents use to go to GTHL.....

Change the record will ya. It is not the same rule, and you know that because you have complained about the GTHL rules in the past.

So, if there is a reasonable person out there with some knowledge of the rules in HEO I would like to know how this works. And only because I am curious.

Codi Ceci was able to use this to get out of the Ottawa area as Hockey Canada or any Canadian hockey body cannot dictate where a child goes to school. Then they play in the local AAA hockey club, or for any GTHL team if that is where they are in school. I think Codi Ceci went to a Peterborough school, although that might not be correct.

10-3 Lumber Kings over Grads in the King's home opener... serious barn burner! Gilmour 5 points, looks like a serious player.

On another note, the last place team in the Robinson division would be first in the Yzerman... Overall the league looks weaker this year compared to last.

Who will be the first uncommitted player to commit this year?

That didn't take long. Patty Kyte commits to Lake Superior State for '18-'19.

Also: Gloucester snaps (from what I have been able to find) the longest winless streak in league history at 34 games with a 4-3 win over Kemptville yesterday. :handclap::handclap::handclap:

IMO....Grads goalies had a very bad night... Next 2 PLK games will be much different.
Still early in the season.

Wondering if somebody can help me understand:

- the number of 20 year olds allowed on a CCHL team roster (is it 6 ... or can you have more than 6 but are only allowed to play 6 in any one game)

- the number of imports allowed on a CCHL team roster (thought it was 6 but it appears that Brockville and Kemptville have 7 at the moment)

- the number of players allowed on a CCHL team roster (thought it was 23 but there appear to be some teams with more than that at the moment)

- what the significance of Dec 01 and Jan 10 are regarding CCHL roster sizes and player movement ... I have heard about these dates but I am not sure I completely understand what they represent

You can have as many players as you want on your team (you have 45 cards to start the season) and it cuts down to 25 on December 1st and then to 23 on January 10th

Clarification of roster composition. The rules re 45 cards....are Hockey Canada rules, CCHL's are more restrictive, we only get 35 cards and have a roster of 23, with an injured reserve if a player is missing 45 days or more and can bump up to 24 for a short time. Also, just because a player lists somewhere outside Canada as their hometown does not mean their citizenship is that Country, for instance lots of players are dual citizens, we only have 5 imports, not 7.
