CBS Sports ranks Matthew Tkachuk the top winger in the NHL

And Marner at #2 with Kucherov at 9 and no Panarin or Caufield

I mean, apart from the Tkachuks, who likes the Tkachuks? At some point you have to take a step back and figure out why that might be.
well people dont have to like them but i find it silly when people cant admit they are EXTREMELY effective players in the NHL and every fan would love to have a Tkachuk type player on their team

How I got it based off last two seasons only. Usually I do 3 seasons weighted towards most recent season like the other nerds on twitter but I updated my model to remove 19-20 in anticipation for 22-23.

1. Marner - this guy does it all and I do not like Toronto

2. Marchand - consistently here for years now too

3. Rantanen
4. Kaprizov
5. Gaudreau
6. Pastrnak

7. Landeskog
8. M Tkachuk
9. Kucherov - this had me double checking too.. abysmal defensive stats just anchored him
10. Robertson

I hope the younger generation learned from Keith. Particularly that come spring time the game tightens up and things get trickier and untimely penalties are gut punches. Keith never really learned even though everyone swore up and down that players like him are effective and ones that everyone loves to have around.

Kucherov 9th? ridiculous.

In his last 200 games in the regular season, Nikita Kucherov has 285 points scored.
As well as 92 points in his last 71 playoff games.

The only winger that is remotely close to this guy is Draisaitl when you staple him to McDavid. Apart from that, no one's touching the guy. I don't care about xGF, I don't care about his 'defensive' capabilities; the guy is scoring at a rate no one else can really touch and has lead his team to 2 cups in the past 3 years, along with another finals appearance.

If he was playing full seasons, he'd obviously be rated 1st by the media. Once his team has gained the zone, he's probably the most dangerous all around offensive threat in the league, ahead of even McDavid. If he could skate and transport the puck better, he'd win the scoring title every year.

But honestly I prefer wingers who are more involved with driving the play all over the ice, unless you have an elite puck carrying center (Point). Kaprizov, Gaudreau, and arguably Panarin and Marner are guys that play that role better. Guys like Huberdeau and Kucherov are generally less appealing to me, but given good puck moving centerman, can be absolutely dynamite.

I think my favourite NHL trope is when Eastern-based media thinks they have uncovered something new when a good player that previously never registered on their radar departs the Flames

Mind boggling to have Tkachuk in that spot. Top 10... fine, you can argue that. Top 3? Get the f*** out of here. #1? Lol, they can't possibly be serious. Kucherov is insultingly low. He's #1.
