What`s happen Chinakhov. His agent Shumi Babayev has NHL agent license too. But besides Trenin and Maximov his players in KHL are other agents in NHL. Sorokin - Dan Milstein, Orlov and Nichushkin - Mike Gandler, Kuznetsov - Max Moliver. So I wouldn`t be suprise if he would try to Yegor`ll sigh here and being his agent in NHL too.

Odd he didn’t play. Could possibly be punishment from his team for leaking that he’s leaving for us.

Yeah, right, that's how you do it - punish an important player by scratching him at the most important time. :sarcasm: I don't have anything against a fun conspiracy theory, but c'mon - there should be at least some common sense.

Seriously though, if I understood correctly from the reports, he caught a cold.

Was a suggestion, not a conspiracy theory

I was just being sarcastic a bit there, the point was that this suggestion doesn't really pass the common sense test and kind of seemed pretty unusual at least to me.

Anyway, looks like Jeff confirms the cold too:

As for the contract reports, I think Chinakhov will sign it, but my bet is also that he will be loaned back to the KHL for the first year.

Being loaned back would be great. More development pre NHL but also a little more team control for the Blue Jackets

Nah , if he’s ready to leave Russia get him over here . Not like there will be a lot of incumbent talent he has to beat out . Should be eligible for AHL worst case . I won’t be shocked to see make the cbj

Im guessing he is an NHL or KHL kind of prospect. Maybe not but my best guess is thats what it is. Its not about getting him in Columbus ASAP its about putting him in the best position to grow and mature as a player. Right now thats probably back home in Russia. He can start to round out his offensive abilities under and NHL style coach in a familiar atmosphere with more oppurtunity no longer being a rookie

I have no idea or not whether he'll actually come over this year or next....

But man if he comes over next year and we can get Marchenko and Voronkov to come over and make the team at the same time...

And by that time Tarasov will (hopefully) have a full year in the AHL under his belt and vying for a possible position as well..

Marchenko has one more year on his deal in the KHL but Voronkov has two more years. So not coming over at the same time.

Damn, hopes of a Russian takeover are destroyed.

I just hope they all give CBJ a chance and actually do come over..

While your concern is always a possibility, I don't know why this comes up as much as it does. Gavrikov came, Tarasov came and Chinakhov is on his way. There is little reason to doubt Marchenko and then Voronkov will be here as well.

Has there been some concern about Marchenko? Seems like it was talked about. Was it just because he’s signed a longer deal with his Russian club? Or was there rumor about his interest in staying there?
