This talk of bringing Foudy up is dumb. Why take him out of a positive development situation and put him on a toxic pile of crap that is the current Jackets. Dalpe and company are here to ride out the string. For all the talk of Torts ruining talent, here we have the guys that complain about it, want to take a guy who is playing well and developing "confidence" in his game, out of that and put him in a situation to fail because they need to see what we have. The people that need to see already have an idea, which is why Foudy should stay where he is. But hey, maybe they will bring him to this shitshow, then the complainers can bitch that he should be in the AHL and that this staff is ruining him.

Not sure why Foudy isn't getting a look in Columbus now, especially with the Tank on. But sure, we need to give minutes to Dalpe, MacInnis, Matteau, etc.

Texier hasn't scored a goal in 37 games. Let's see what Foudy can do with 2nd line minutes.
He wouldn't get 2nd line minutes for a whole game here so he is better off in Cleveland.

I think Foudy could get plenty of minutes. But I don't want him on the Jackets because

1) he has strong two-way impacts and could imperil the tank.

2) he's learning how to be a scorer against men in the AHL, that's the best spot for him to experiment and learn.

He recently played a few games for the mens national team in prep games for the world championship and looked very good.

I saw those games, I think he has a really high ceiling but a pretty low floor too. The offensive talent is there to be PPQB1, at worst #3 Dman, but he could just as easily be a bottom pairing/7th Dman just on the roster for PP specialist.

Thanks for the report. If memory serves that actually jibes with what I was reading about him at draft time.

I liked the YouTube highlights of him I found, allowing of course that they are just YouTube highlights.

Yes, Samuel is very good, speed, mobility, skill, quite good hockey vision. It's good to have so good d-man not only here but in our representation tol. Chára is old, than Černák, Sekera, I hope Jaroš'll find his play. That's all. Because even in Europe we don't have too good d-men.

CSKA took a 2-1 series lead in KHL finals yesterday, neither Marchenko or Chinakhov are producing much.

I'm still amazed at how Voronkov almost willed his team to a game 7 victory in conference finals as a 20 year old.

Marchenko plays for SKA St. Petersburg not CSKA Moscow

Чинахов подпишет трёхлетний контракт с «Коламбусом»

Translated via Google:

Chinakhov will sign a three-year contract with Columbus

Avangard forward Yegor Chinakhov is likely to continue his career with the Columbus Blue Jackets NHL team.

“Until April 30, Chinakhov has a valid contract with Avangard, and the memorandum on mutual respect for contracts between the NHL and the KHL excludes the official signing of the contract before the expiration of the previous one,” the Omsk press service said.

It is reported that the term of the Blue Jackets' agreement with Chinakhov will be three years, it will be signed shortly. The 20-year-old forward's contract with Avangard is valid until April 30, 2021. In the NHL draft last year, Columbus selected the Russian striker in the first round under the overall 21st pick. This season, the Russian has 17 (10 + 7) points in 32 matches of the KHL regular championship with a utility of “-2”.

In the playoffs, Chinakhov scored seven (5 + 2) points in 19 games with a "+2" utility. At the moment, the player, together with Avangard, is taking part in the Gagarin Cup final against CSKA. The fourth match of the series will take place on Saturday, April 24 in Balashikha. The meeting starts at 17:00 Moscow time. CSKA are leading in the series with a score of 2-1.

I'm happy Chinakhov is signed but I prefer for him to be in Omsk or Cleveland next season. I've watched a lot of his game video. He could legitimately win an NHL job in camp, he's a coach's dream young winger because he is so good on the forecheck and backcheck. But being in the NHL will just make it harder for him to learn the playmaking and consistent scoring. I think Chinakhov can be a Bjorkstrand type player and he'll need some easier comp to develop the creative offensive side of his game.

I'm pretty sure Chinakhov is only coming to play in Columbus. He could get paid more on a championship level team to play better competition than the AHL.

Yeah pretty much this. I don't see him coming over here to play in Cleveland.

But he could come over and try his hand in training camp. If he makes it, he makes it, and if he doesn't we could loan him back although he'd be a bit behind the 8 ball over there.

Sound like a true Jacket. about a .5ppg guy with a negative utility (positive in the playoffs).

If he is an automatic for the NHL that will be another mismanagement of a young player. Cleveland or loan him back.

KHL is better than AHL and Avangard is TOP team. If not Columbus it would be better to play in KHL for Yegor.

Vesele, is the KHL playing on the smaller North American ice surface or are they playing on the larger European ice surface? The argument is often made that at some point it is good for these talented European players acclimate to the smaller ice sheet. The best way to do that is in the AHL.

Some teams plays in small ice surface now, or Finnish now.

NA (26x60) - SKA, Barys, Sochi, Dynamo Moscow, Admiral, Amur
Finnish (28x60) - Avangard, Avtomobilist, Ak Bars, Mettalurg, Novosibirsk, Nevtekhimik, Vityaz, Severstal, Salavat Yulayev, CSKA, Spartak, Dynamo Minsk

Maybe some teams changed ice surfaces still. For example there was Salavat Yulayev among teams in the European ice surface in the original article but it has Finnish now.

CSKA- Avangard and Ak Bars - Avangard were/are played on the Finnish ice surface

Italic/Underline - TOP teams KHL

It`s normal. It was his first season in KHL, and a part of season Avangard had a bad time.
PO... he plays with Zernov and Kovalchuk so he often plays without the puck. He`s one of the fastest players. And Kovalchuk... he doesn`t show anything excelent. But the true he has lots experiences.

Chinakhov was the Blue Jackets’ first-round draft pick (No. 21) last summer, and his current contract with the KHL expires April 30. Most young players have chosen to stay in Russia and develop, rather than come to North America and play in the AHL, but Chinakhov might have different plans.
The 20-year-old right winger will decide after the Gagarin Cup if he’s ready to take a shot at the NHL.

“We’ll make a decision right after the last game,” his agent, Shumi Babayev, told The Athletic this weekend.

Asked if he believed Chinakhov was ready to play in the NHL, Babayev responded, “100 percent ready.”
