Personally, i think he'll be in the NHL so thats why i think he wont be there.

Which is possible and if he were held back for that then that would be completely fine. I think he starts in the AHL and maybe gets NHL time if he plays his way up or injuries but the only way i dont see him going to the WJC is if he blows everyone away in camp and makes the team for good from the start

if he wants to stay up in the nhl sonny needs to use his forehand.

Eh, from what I've gathered, besides gaining weight and strength, he's really been focusing on playing a stronger two-way game which is what I think is most important. Don't worry he'll get that backhand instinct beat outta him at practice with the big boys.

Newly drafted youngsters are ranked by Hockey's future. The ranking is what it is and I wouldn't put too much weight on these but it's interesting to see where they could be in the depth chart. Seems like reasonable guesses:

Werenski 8.5C
Carlsson 7.5C
Bittner 7.5D
Stenlund 7.0C
Kolesar 6.0C
Ruopp 6.5C
Vainio 7.0D
Gavrikov 7.0D
Nutivaara 5.5D

Werenski at 8.5C :amazed:

I wonder what gives Ruopp/Kolesar C's and Bittner a D.. seems like they should have their letter grades switched

I think it means that even though Bittner has a higher ceiling he also has a bigger chance of busting. The lower rated guys have less of a chance to either exceed or miss their ratings.

Rychel only got a 7.0 but a higher chance of getting there. Im pleasantly surprised by Werenski's ranking. We all know he has huge potential but thought maybe they'd give him a D or even an 8.0C

Edit: Provorov only got a 8.0C, guess HF likes Werenski

Hanifin and Zboril got 8.0B's as well

Hanifan deserves the letter grade, Zboril is kind of surprising he got a B. Wonder what the concern for Provorov is. Right now he's probably the furthest along and can't even use a college vs CHL debate since Zboril got the rank he did. They are only opinions so its not a big deal but Im pretty curious

Provorov should be at least an 8.0B. He's already very polished.

I think it means that even though Bittner has a higher ceiling he also has a bigger chance of busting. The lower rated guys have less of a chance to either exceed or miss their ratings.

Naw. A 7.5D doesn't have a higher chance of busting than a 6.5C. A "D" rather than "C" gives a player a higher chance of dropping a line, so from 7.5 to 6.5. So if Bittner doesn't hit his 7.5 upside he's just in the same boat as a 6.5C.

I personally don't put a lot of stock in the HF rankings - there are other agencies with more scouts at their disposal - but the rating system is good, IMO, once you get used to it.

What ever happened to Daniel Zaar?

The poll thread got me thinking. It seemed like a year ago he was poised to be a dark horse prospect but I can't recall anything of him since.

Zaar should be coming over to play in North America this season and likely spends the year in Cleveland. He had a solid season in the Swedish league last season. He started out doing incredibly well - top 10 in scoring but couldn't maintain that pace as his team started to struggle.

It will be interesting to see what happens with him in the AHL since there's so many other forward prospects, but he's a little bit older and has more pro experience than some of the other forwards. Depends on how quickly he's able to adapt to NA hockey whether he might get a call-up this season.

Nothing really "happened", I think when his season ended the hype around him died because we starting seeing more exciting things occur like the Captaincy, Saad trade, draft, free agency, etc.

0.5 PPG in SHL as a 20 year old rookie is still pretty solid. I think he's one of our better, yet quiet, prospects. Similar to Joonas Korpisalo in that regard.

Stenlund at 7.0C is interesting. He's someone who's hardly gotten any press. It'll be interesting to follow him this season.
Stenlund looked freaking awesome in prospect camp, to me. That said, my track record w/r/t scouting prospects rather sucks (Plekhanov may be gone, but Tynan can still make it! ;) ), so take that for what it's worth. :D

Didn't Murray have an 8.0B when drafted? If so, it's strange that Zboril had the same. I like the rankings a lot, think they reflect the draft well.

What's the future in net look like? Forsberg played well in the AHL. What's happening with Dansk?

Our future in net is as follows:

Forsberg looks like he has NHL starting goalie potential. Still needs time.

Korpisalo and Merzlikins are still question marks. Needs alot more time and future is unclear.

Dansk's career has gone off the tracks completely. He will look to get them on track in Sweden but I doubt he has an NHL future anymore.
