I dunno, I always found that "everybody knows your name" bit kind of creepy. If I walk into a place for the very first time and everyone turns around and goes "Hi, Joanne!", I think I'd turn around and run the hell away.Had to happen
not to mention the "they're always glad you came" part. Why would you want to go to a bar that's exactly like HFB?I dunno, I always found that "everybody knows your name" bit kind of creepy. When I take over the world, it will be.It is -9 F where I am. This should be illegal.
And best wishes even if you don’t feel like celebrating anything.Merry Christmas to all of you who celebrate!
Happy holidays to the ones that celebrate something else
I’m gonna put this here instead of the “other sports” thread because despite that I saw it on ESPN2 I’m not convinced because I’m old and curmudgeonly.
But Monday night I’m at a bar with a buddy and the TV is showing something called World Chase Tag? And despite that I would like to be all grumpy about it we watched it more than the NFL game on the screen next to it, despite that I am a big NFL fan and had my FFL semifinal in the balance.
Did anyone know this was a thing?
They've shown it quite a bit...its annoyingly addictive to watchI’m gonna put this here instead of the “other sports” thread because despite that I saw it on ESPN2 I’m not convinced because I’m old and curmudgeonly.

I tried to learn to skate a while back and signed up for a class at the Chiller. Was mortified to find that it was me and about 10 7- and 8-year olds, all of whom laughed at me. But I had the last laugh in the second session when the meanest boy of all the mean boys had to be carried off the ice crying because he fell down and hurt his ankle. I cried very little whenever I fell and never had to be carried off in the arms of my teacher. Suck it Timmy! So. I just want you all to know ive finished speaking to all these random ass Columbus people at our preseason drop in tonight..... and none of them are you guys. Just people who have heard good things about our small town local hockey league and live on the east side of columbus. Our D league seems to sit in between the chiller E and D league skill wise and people like the game play.
You all will be pleased to know i am taking this as encouragment to continue posting my hockey wares here seeking to give back to HFboards... a place that set me on my hockey journey 20 years ago.... Since ive not even recruited 1 person from here i cant stop now!
So, with that in mind... if there is any Hf'er out there that has ever wanted to start playing hockey and would like to start in a friendly. welcoming environment... please hit me up. League play starts next week or we have our Newark Generals Adult Boot Camps that are great at getting new skaters on the ice, moving around and doing hockey things
the best way to start playing hockey... is to start playing hockey

All of the above is 100% true. I finished out the learn to skate program and tried for several months thereafter to get better, but I could never figure out how to do a hockey stop. Or any kind of non-board-assisted stop.
