I worked at ThisWeek as a writer and editor for 25 years before the company sort of transferred me to the Dispatch's magazine division in 2015, and then again as a freelancer for the past three years after they laid me off from the magazine division.

This is not surprising to anyone who's followed print media. I have bemoaned the state of contemporary corporate media and that, coupled with a general lack of appreciation and understanding of the role of community media in a world in which we're inundated with national and world news constantly and thus a lack of willingness to support it, make the end of ThisWeek a foregone conclusion.

But it's still sad to me nonetheless.

My degree was in broadcast journalism but I never went into the field. I think I am glad I didn't though I am pretty sure I would have had success at some level. But I either would have had to sell my soul to make it or rage-quit one day out of self-hate. LOL

My concern is what did the state and county concede to these companies in the form of tax breaks? To the best of my knowledge we still haven’t seen what intel got.

These giant server farms don’t really employ a bunch of people. So not a lot of good jobs or payroll tax revenue generated. Licking county needs good career jobs for people. Not giant corporations enjoying sweetheart deals with near poverty level wharehouse/packaging line jobs with no room for advancement

My 8u & 10u house tournament schedule has been submitted for review by the rink!

I’m super excited to be hosting all these kiddos. We’ve got allota hockey planned for the weekend. Something happened to me today that I can’t really explain at all. I will start out by saying that this has happened multiple times in my life.

*I have absolutely no affiliation with Michigan State, have never even been there so this was entirely random*

This morning before bed (I work third shift), I was laying there on my phone. Literally for no reason whatsoever, I got the inclination to look up football programs and study what their history has been like. the only school that instantly came to mind was Michigan State. (attached is a picture of my search history and the time I searched it). I have no idea why michigan state came to mind.. like I said, no affiliation to the school whatsoever. I currently live in Nebraska and have never even been to East Lansing, Michigan.

I ended up falling asleep soon after, that was the only school’s football team I googled.

I slept all day because working third shift will do that to ya. so I hadn’t been on my phone at all, hadn’t seen any news.

I texted my dad when I woke up to see how he was and said, “just watching the news. it’s so sad what’s going on at Michigan State” ….

I froze. I called him instantly and sent the same picture I put on this thread of my search history. I wasn’t extremely surprised when he said that sentence because this has happened multiple times before in the past, like I said, where I randomly have this inclination to look something/someone up and then almost within a few days something happens surrounding it/them.

I’m not sure what to make of it.

pure coincidence? discernment? I have absolutely no idea. I’m sure i’m not the only one who has experienced stuff like this happening to them.

I offer my sincerest condolences to those affected by the mass shooting tonight at Michigan State. my heart breaks for everyone going through this and I cannot even begin to fathom how all are feeling at this moment.

New Albany International Business Park could expand yet again if the city approves a rezoning request from its most prominent developer.

MBJ Holdings LLC, an affiliate of the New Albany Co., is requesting to rezone 196 acres from agricultural to limited general employment (L-GE). The site, which consists of eight parcels on the west side of Beech Road, is in the process of being annexed into the city from Jersey Township. The annexation petition was submitted Dec. 30, and is scheduled for a first reading at a New Albany City Council meeting on March 7.
