I'll give my two cents by saying first the 5th + Caufield is too much for 2nd OA(Fantilli) while Caufield for 2nd OA is clearly not enough.

On the Caufield part I don't think you can't call him a 40 goal scorer combining two seasons where St-Louis was in. I understand that he has tremendous stats since he took over but to me a X goal scorer means in a season. The potential is clearly there and will probably do it.

Here we weren't allowed to call Mack a 100 point player before this year while with pace he would've clearly gotten it before IMO but still the fact was that he wasn't a 100 pts player. If we said that Mack was 100pts player if we count the 17 games he missed from the season before to fit my narrative is kinda a dumb argument. We use two different season as one sample where one could go on a tear or just go cold.

Caufield is basically a discount debrincat right now. It would basically be 5 plus 7/8pick (draft value of caufield) for #2. That is semi fair value. Anaheim has no incentive to trade the #2. That's why offering Hutson as a bonus would bump the value for the ducks to accept.

It has been the whole time. Caufield goes top 5 or 10 in a redraft of his draft but that somehow equals he worth 2nd overall in a draft expected to be significantly better where the likely pick probably goes 1st or at worst 2nd in Caufields draft.

He is a potential cornerstone franchise center with size and skill and these don't grow on trees. So you think Anahein wouldn't ask for something ridiculous in return for the 2nd ov and the chance to land their 1C for the next decade and a guy to pair Zegras with ? They absolutely would hence the ridiculous theorical ask i laid down in my post

Would the Habs do it ? They liekly wouldn't but then again if i'm Anaheim i wouldn't trade 2nd ov for Caufield + 5ov. There are very few incentives for them to do so considering where they're at in their rebuild.

that way the Habs can continue to get near the top of the draft because Michkov won't play on the team for probably four years. I don't know if Hughes and Habs fans are wanting that really. The last year all I've heard was that they expect and want the rebuild to be done as quick as possible. Michkov probably would be the right pick but there is a chance that would delay things.

Michkov would be in our lineup in 3 yrs.
#2, #3 and #4 will be at least 2 yrs away.
Michkov would be joining us just at the right time if we get lucky enough to grab him.

He destroyed the NCAA at a level we haven’t seen since Eichel & Kariya. Laf had a decent WJC and played in the no-defense Q and didn’t have nearly the floor that Fantilli has.

They dont care about a small goal scoring winger or a small defensive prospect when their prospect pool is loaded with them. They want and should want a guy who projects to be a high end big 1C to help them win when it matters. People are trying to convince a team that has had success with Getzlaf, Perry, Pronger etc they need to go small and skilled... Its not going to go over well
