If the Rangers get the Devils in the playoffs, I think they’ll give the Rangers more fits than some here want to admit

That team will be good for a while with that core
Nobody has said it would be easy, as a matter of fact it would be difficult, but I don't see any team beating the Rangers in a 7 game series except for Boston. Jersey had 1 really good period. It just happened to be enough and almost wasn't.

With that way the devs skate and how small they are I dont think its crazy that if lindgren cant go that you opt to roll with zac jones over ben harpur vs the devs in particular
Lindgren will be ready, still 2.5 weeks before playoffs start, but yes I would like to see Jones instead of Harpur. He was dreadful tonight.

They have had some crappy 1st periods yes but 9-1-1 is still 9-1-1.

So what, noone is arguing about the Rangers record. It's only brought up as a deflection of criticism. This is a team that sleepwalked into the playoffs 10 games before the season ended. We know they have talent relative to the rest of the league, what we are criticizing is a string of lackluster performances night after night EVEN if they pick up 2 points on most nights against weak opposition.

The f*** it chuck it plays should not be the ones we rely on but that game sure felt like that's what was happening :/
Agree 100%. Even in the last half of the game tonite where the Rangers had time in the o-zone, they always seemed to be a nano-second away from losing the puck to an aggressive Devil’s stick. Never felt like a sense of “control.”

Good thing also that the analytics didn’t “count” in the final score - Rangers got absolutely pillaged in every metric.

First of all who is we? I'm responding to you. I disagree with the lackluster performances night after night bullshit. They could have won both games against a tough Carolina team, although they only won 1. They thoroughly outplayed Washington, Florida(after the 1st), Pitt(1st game) and totally destroyed Pitt in the 2nd game and then Nashville.

The Devils didn't do shit the last 2 periods and that game was nearly tied in the last minute. It wasn't that bad.

I thought it was a separated shoulder.
No one knows what it is unless you're Charlie Lindgren or one of the Rangers doctors. Shoulders are tricky and he should have been shut down until a few games before the end of the season.
He will be ready for game 1 obviously and he will be a huge upgrade over Harpur.

Rangers are usually very cautious with injuries. Surprised he's been out so long again because he came back in that game that he was reinjured in.

Imagine the reaction if Trouba did that
There would have been lots of tears.

we played like shit and still didn't get destroyed. the game against buffalo and tampa are the ones that have the most immediate interest for me. buffalo because i'm curious if we can play tight and light up after a game we didn't really show up for. and tampa because well... because they're who what most think that they are. the best test to gauge where' we're at other than boston.
I don’t think it’s that the Rangers played poorly. The Devils were just better, at least at the outset. The balance and momentum shifted as the game progressed but I’d say the Devils overall deserved the win that one.
