If the Gophers are still playing in April, it likely means CM has finally turned the corner to domination at the NCAA level and took over a couple games like Vanek his freshman year. Would be a good thing for Buffalo.

Developmentally, I would love that. If he can propel scoring to that degree against his collegiate peers, he’d be much closer to NHL ready.

Hey, uses a teammate on a quick pass and a good chance.

In the meantime, the officials are apparently trying out for NHL duty. Not a well-called game in any regard for either team.

Shots are 51-13, score is 3-on-1.

I have zero interest in him going back to that lousy Minnesota team next year unless they are getting a serious influx of talent.

I think he's feeling the pressure and trying to do too much. It doesn't help that Sheehy-Novak are often invisible and Bristedt has been a dud most of the season.

Hmmm. That tendency might be a reason to get him to Rochester next year. I worry about a guy with his dangles sitting in college with a weak team developing bad habits against weak competition, individually speaking.

Do the Gophers have a good class coming in or a lot of young guys who will make a jump next year?

Guys like @Bonin21 and @57special and @gphr513 can probably speak to the strength of the incoming class more than I can - I am only an interloper to Gopher hockey. I posted some thoughts on commits earlier in this thread -- it's good, but probably not great.

I don't know what has happened to Bristedt. He used to be a good little player. Anyway, I know nothing about the Swede coming over next year, but I do think Sammy Walker(TBL... was quite impressive in their camp this summer apparently) can definitely play with CM. He is odds on favorite to be "Mr. Hockey" this year, as CM was last, and has similar stats to CM's last year in MNHS hockey, in the exact same conference. Walker is a faster and better skater than CM, a bit smaller, and has very good hands, but not freaky good like CM's. Sammy has always been a really good player...excellent offensively. Very aggressive, always attacking.

Mclaughlin might also be a good player, but I think he's playing C, so he's probably not a fit with CM.

I have heard that it's possible that Ben Brinkman, a HS junior, might accelerate and go to the U next year. He's a very good player...a strong, great skating dman with a lot of offensive game.

I think CM will be setting Walker loose on a lot of breakaways, if Don Lucia(coach) has the sense to play them together. Not optimistic on that...I'm not a big Lucia fan.

JMHO, not to be taken as fact. Bonin 21 and others might have other, more informed, opinions.

Oh, and yes, Mittlestadt has been better than his point totals are suggesting. Not perfect, but the guy oozes talent. I think BUFF should arrange for a ATO(I think it's possible?) at the end of this year, so he can get a taste of the physicality and speed of the NHL. That should inspire him to work harder in the gym, knowing what he will face in the near future.

Tomorrow night should be very interesting with the way the physical “play” went down. Not a lot of happy handshakes at the end. There was a minor little episode in the 2nd you probably didn’t catch on TV. Let’s just say CM was a touch frustrated. More to do with his team’s play than anything else I’m pretty sure, but no singling out teammates or anything selfish. Clearly the kid cares, but seeing them up close for the first time since October, I’d almost say they’ve regressed as a team. Could be wrong, but it just wasn’t there. Road woes? Maybe. And if you want Exhibit A as to why you ignore CM’s numbers, just roll tonight’s game tape. But yeah, as has been suggested, it leads to him trying to do too much out there on his own.
