Not everyone can be a dreamboat like Wayne Gretzky.

That feathered hair deserved more than one punch a long time ago.

Oh, the CM thread has two and half more pages, maybe he had a great showing at the end of camp I haven't read about.

*Two pages of critiquing his looks*

Oh, no, that seems about right. :help:

Anyways, it's exciting to see that he looked good at camp. Can't wait to see the 2020 version of him.

So we can't critique his looks now but it's okay for you to daydream about his 2020 physique? :shakehead

I don't think Mittelstadt is ugly at all. He's more of a looker than myself, atleast.

Mittelstadt does have a face that just screams smug jock. Meh, I don't care about what our players faces look like, I care about what they do on the ice.

What I'm curious about is his long term role. Is he destined to be a LW here? Or maybe in 2020,2021 when he is ready for a top line role that he is at center and RoR is moved to LW.

Hmm, I gotta say even though we passed up some dmen the last two years, having a high end elite forward corps looks great. We literally have 6 high end forwards who all should be 20g+/55+p forwards all in place until at least 2023.

FWIW by many accounts he didn't look good at camp until the 3v3, where he stole the show (along with Asplund)

If things pan out in the future, we wouldn't have to plug bottom 6 players in the top 6 unless injuries, unlike today where LW is getting filled in by 3rd line players who just show enough chemistry to make it passable. We might get a few years of this before cap considerations get in the way.

And we can have Kane or equivalent player for 3W technically as cap would be ok until Casey and Nylander hit their big contract figures. We are just fine in terms of forwards :) D is looking much better already and I am sure it will only go up once Guhle is ready. And we have numerous expendable secondary prospect we could trade for D upgrades if needed.

Only thing we have to be careful is not to overpay for goalies to constraint our cap and hopefully Ullmark and ULP help out with that down the line and also not to overpay our 4th liners.

I think we will have a roster capable to be cup contenders 2019 to maybe 2025+ easily...

Those line-ups are soft as butter.

If only we had a true power forward on the roster we could extend :sarcasm:

I was going to mention a Kane extension and plug him in there but with how large of a contingent on this board that wants him gone at all costs figured I'd leave him off so I wouldn't have to deal with it. But extend Kane and target heavy players for the fourth line...should be enough physicality. I mean we complained for years about the team not hitting enough and the 16-17 Sabres were one of the most physical in the entire league and they still sucked. Give me a team that plays hard and wins over a team that hits a lot.

You can say soft, but nobody is small. Game is different today. Middlestadt will get beefy in college, whether it's the jock dorm food or the beer.

I remember reading the same arguments in 2006-2007. Then the Sens pounded the Sabres in the ECF.

You can always find grit and toughness if you want it.

Who can play in top 9? Maybe.

Bylsma's chip-and-chase made hitting on the forecheck easier to do. Had nothing to do with hitting vs. playing hard.
