...watch the video. He was making big huffs and puffs and was arching his arms on his knees prior to getting up. They didn't lock it until the end of the timer. Far cry from trying to withhold excitement of the top of their list falling into their lap.

As we've seen in press conferences and interviews Botterill is not comfortable in public speaking situations. I haven't watched the video but it sounds like he was anxious about the whole public ceremony of walking up to the stage and the historic nature of it for himself. From what I've read teams know who they are taking, the only unknowns are possible trades - the Sabres did try to trade up with Vancouver according to reports. Teams have a list of players ranked, Mittelstadt was their highest ranked player. He wasn't freaking out about which player to take, the scouts decided that for him long before.

This is something I've been wondering about too. I don't even think they expected Mittelstadt to be on the board when they picked, as his name wasn't visible on the back of the draft jersey that they presented to him. Typically, teams have nameplates ready for their draft picks and the Sabres have been especially good at that sort of thing for years now. They didn't have one for Mittelstadt, which makes me believe they had him ranked much higher than where they selected him.

Or maybe Rip had problems spelling it. :sarcasm:

No chance

No really. I get the impression that Jack is like Vanek- making him a captain would ruin him. From what little I've seen of Mittelstadt, he has a better disposition for it. I also think he's gonna be a stud player. Taking the captaincy and performing on a level near Jack's will take the attention off Jack and give him a little more room to grow to his fullest potential.

My point exactly. As soon as he was named captain, he went downhill. Don't do that to Eich.

Of all the time we had to watch Eichel from college and throughout the last two years, and the way he comes off, and you think he's going to fold after being given the Captaincy? Why do you think this?

David Andreychuk - Robert Barrasso

Neither Dave or Tom have sons - just three daughters each. Could be still related via a brother/sister/cousin etc.

Dave Andreychuck - lives with his wife Sue - have three daughters, Taylor, Caci and Brooke.

Tom Barrasso - lives with his wife Megan - have three daughters, Ashley, Kelsey, and Mallory.

WTF is this?

Making Jack the captain would kill him, and getting the captaincy killed Vanek?

Talk about tossing **** against a wall and seeing what sticks.

Incoming Gopher Hockey freshman Casey Mittelstadt has been voted the All-USA Athlete of the Year, USA Today announced on Wednesday.

A native of Eden Prairie, Minnesota, Mittelstadt repeated as the USA Today All-USA Boys Hockey Player of the Year and a First Team selection as a senior in 2017. The forward also repeated as the Associated Press Player of the Year and First Team All-State last season.

Mittelstadt, who was drafted eighth overall by the Buffalo Sabres last month at the 2017 NHL Entry Draft, was honored as the 2017 recipient of the Mr. Hockey Award after leading Eden Prairie High School to the state tournament for the fourth-straight season. He also spent time in the USHL last year as a member of the Green Bay Gamblers.

The incoming Gopher freshman will represent the Maroon & Gold at USA Hockey’s 2017 World Junior Summer Showcase next month.
