SOB may be kinda of a dumbass, but at least he tries to stick up for our player. :handclap: At least he would have went after Duncan Keith if he was on the ice when sedin was hit.

Still remember him going buck wild during that brawl in the regular season a few years back when Byfuglien cross checked Luongo, then Burish messed with a Sedin and he lost his marbles chasing him around

found it

Why is Booth skating? Has it been 4 weeks? Seems pretty quick and I don't want them rushing this guy. Avoiding a set back or further injury has to be the priority with Booth.

Yeah, I've always thought the same about Willie Mitchell.

Mitchell is a very intense guy. I would hazard to guess that he just doesn't have an off switch; game, practice, it doesn't matter - he competes in the same way, which can of course result in things like that.

That intensity lead to some "good crazy" moments too - there was an amazing snapshot taken during a scrum in the 2007 playoffs against Anaheim. The look on his face was pure insanity. I wish I could find it (I have tried, without success)

I agree with this. I've seen good friends and even brothers fight in an intense practice... **** happens.

I *hated* Willie when he played for the Wild to the point that I didn't even care that he was from here. He's just one of those guys you'd rather have on your team.

This is how I feel about PK Subban's practice encounters as well. He's a competitor.

Mitchell was involved in at least 2, maybe 3 practice skirmishes. Where there's smoke, there's fire. He was probably a d-bag.

Skirmishes among players in the heat of the moment never bother me, it's usually left at the rink. Mitchell was a good part of some of Luongo's success and when he was out we missed him. Willie is a rare breed stay at home D of talent, grit and intensity. I think it was the uncertainty of the concussion, other suitors that sealed his fate, or luck depending on whether you're a Kings or Canucks fan. At the time we all wanted Willie back badly from what I recall.

He was a victim of the Hawks making him look really bad, IMO.

Yet against the Bruins he probably would have been dynamite.

Willie Mitchell is one of my favorite players all-time. And I've watched hockey since the late 80s.

From everything I've heard about him, he seems like a really nice guy off the ice as well.

I still remember vividly how he saved a goal in the playoffs by sweeping it off the goal line.

If he's skating, it's because he's ready to skate. Seriously, you don't know anything about his medical situation, they do. Don't worry about it.

My exact senitments,

people should stop playing doctor and just ****, let the players handle their own medical situation.

I guess ten years of Salo would make any fanbase paranoid about injuries.

Somewhat related; When the Canucks played the Hawks in the first round, Bolland said in an interview after practice that he couldn't remember the name of teammates. He was recovering from a concussion at the time. A couple of days later, he suited up. Played like a beast but I think it would have been really bad if he got hit. Sometimes I play when I shouldn't and I don't get paid for it. I can only imagine what that drive is like for a pro.

It was clear the Canucks weren't seeking revenge, yet if we had SOB he'd be that numbskull that goes after Keith, hardly does anything, and costs us the game while at it.

in case you guys missed it, this was the last post in the PGT:

well this is weird, it looks like sportsnet ran highlights of this game decades later for no good reason other than because it was awesome. of course our friend M A K A V E L L I has archived it online for us.

i'm now six years older than mclean was when he played that game. sigh.

I don't need to be a doctor to know that it hasn't been enough time. Lo and behold, Booth sounded frustrated after his skate.
