So do these count as wins against a good team?

This was very, very impressive. The second game in particular. I went back and watched most of the first game as I was, rightly, called out for judging off the highlights. I was probably overly critical of the first game, but we probably got lucky there. That said, good teams find ways to win. The second win was very impressive. It's amazing to come out of those two games with 4 points.

Contract aside because it's a dead horse and we know the score.

But on ice, don't think Palat has played bad hockey lately

I still want one of Nelson, Palmieri or Vatrano traded for that Bratt/Jack line, mainly the last two since they're snipers and aren't volume shooters which is exactly what Jack needs at this stage of his career and why Timo somewhat failed with him as a linemate. Nelson would be better if they're still worried about Jack's face-offs, Nelson is pretty meh at them himself but he's over 50% this year, so if they wanna do the Haula-Hughes of 22-23 then Nelson is probably the guy to trade for barring the Isles making a random run to the bubble and in and Lou doesn't sell.

Going to be the biggest test since the last two games. I'd argue beating the reigning Stanley Cup champs on a 7 game win streak in their own building two times in 3 days was the biggest challenge!

Strongly agreed. Tonight was especially impressive as Bennett was back in the lineup. Barkov-Bennett-Lundell is as good a C trio as we’re going to see this season.

Tampa Saturday will be interesting. Last game against them was an embarrassing effort and I think the boys will come out swinging much like they did tonight. They’ll want revenge for that one.

Give me 2-1 in the next 3 and I’m a very happy man. Would be a 4-1 record in this gauntlet of a stretch.

He can shame him. If Tkachuk has to meekly back down he loses face and respect and is less intimidating going forward. For some players it wouldn’t matter. Wilson and Ratface are going to do what they do regardless but frauds like Tkachuk won’t as I see it. Notice I didn’t say anything about any other Panther. He’s a fraud. Guy has never taken on someone who could challenge him. He’s gutless.
I promise he doesn’t care about being shamed by Kurtis MacDermid. He doesn’t have to meekly back down either because it’s pretty darn easy to explain why he wouldn’t fight MacDermid. He’s gonna laugh in his face and tell him to go back to the bench.

But yes he doesn’t take on people who can challenge him. Which is exactly my point. How many people do you think have challenged him that he’s turned down. Tons and it’s so easy for him to do and turning down MacDermid wouldn’t do a thing to his reputation. I also highly doubt Wilson or ratface would be likely to take on MacDermid either. They’re gonna do what they do and then not fight him because there’s no reason whatsoever that they have to. MacDermid isn’t a deterrent because he can’t force people to fight him. Which all comes down to my initial argument. MacDermid is not remotely a deterrent because there’s nothing he can actually do to these guys if they run one of our stars. Absolutely nothing.

Went into the office, so I had to do my old routine of avoiding spoilers since I'd be getting home when the game would be wrapping up in real time. Naturally I forgot my TV had last been on ESPN and what happens to the score on display when I turned it on.....I suppose I only saw "Devils 6" but felt pretty confident that would be enough.

Tonight's trivia question made me laugh since it sorta involved Trevor Kidd's unfortunate injury.

Rewind to the start of the 1999-00 season and Florida had incumbent starter Sean Burke plus new acquisition Trevor Kidd. Kidd starts the season on fire and they decide they can cut some budget by trading Burke. Eventually they flip him to Phoenix who were dealing with Nikolai Khabibulin's holdout. In return Florida gets backup goalie Mikhail Shtalenkov.

To promote the All-Star skills competition, the NHL required that each team do their own local one. Florida does theirs in mid-December and Kidd dislocates his shoulder during the rapid fire event. They think he'll be out 4-6 months. Shtalenkov is shaky as the de facto starter, so Florida suddenly is shopping for a goalie only weeks after dumping Burke.

Meanwhile in San Jose, they have Mike Vernon and Steve Shields plus Evgeni Nabokov in the minors. They take a calculated risk that Nabokov is ready and deal Vernon to Florida.

When Kidd is cleared, he struggles out of the gate and Vernon is deemed the playoff starter. Somewhat ironic since Kidd had made Vernon expendable a few years earlier in Calgary which eventually led to Vernon getting a Cup in Detroit.

Florida gave up a somewhat useful Radek Dvorak to get Vernon who they'd promptly lose in the Expansion Draft.
