We're blacking that out.
4 more years is a long time to black something out....
We're blacking that out.
Carter is old, slow, doesn't score anymore, and is terrible...but he's worth a 1st and top prospect to another team. Do I have that right?
This thread should be re-titled "Carter and cognitive dissonance"...
When you read only what you want to read, as you frequently do, sure.
Like Pearson, some of these players just need a change of scenery.
Hopefully Blake doesn't trade them for more 30-something pending UFAs.
Getting rid of some regrettable contracts isn't necessarily the worst thing that could happen. This team needs to shed a lot of dead weight.
The team is done, trade him now before he further depreciates. If you trade Carter who do we have currantly on the roster to take over 2C? Toffoli will most likely be moved at the deadline if Blake can find the right deal. Let's see how good Valardi is once he plays in the NHL first before dealing Carter. By some chance if we draft Hughes then I'd be open to trading Carter in the offseason. Until we find out how good Valardi is then I think we need to hold off trading Carter.

Your LA Kings All-Star representative.Easy, Nate Thompson.

We don’t need a replacement, plug some one there. we are terrible. Get some assets and look to the futureIf you trade Carter who do we have currantly on the roster to take over 2C? Carter spends most of his time on the ice circling like a buzzard on rollerblades.

I can see the new season seat marketing slogan now..."spend thousands on watching terrible hockey for the next 5 years!! We're not even trying to be competitive!! Come see ECHL hockey at NHL prices!! Demand is strong so get your tickets while they last!!"
Good luck with that

They're terrible WITH Carter as the number 2 center. If hes not here you think they're going to be worse?I can see the new season seat marketing slogan now..."spend thousands on watching terrible hockey for the next 5 years!! You can replace Carter, possibly with a guy we've already got in Vilardi. There's no replacing Doughty.True...and they are terrible with Doughty. Trade him as well?
What is your suggestion for the team?True...and they are terrible with Doughty. Trade him as well?

ok so... what is your suggestion? which players should go and who should stay? Here is my recommendation for the fans...take a chill pill. Blake and Co. are not going to gut this team!! They are not going to roll with a center corp of Kopitar-Amadio-Kempe-whomever. They are not going to ruin guys like Kupari, Vilardi, and JAD by rushing them into top 6 roles as teenagers. They are not going to waste the best remaining years of Kopitar, Doughty, Quick, Brown, and (probably) Carter by being a bottom dweller for the foreseeable future. Pittsburgh isn't doing it nor is Chicago. The Kings will make changes around the edges and try to get better that way. They'll keep the picks they have and try to improve that way. They'll selectively try to unload veterans and try to improve that way. But they WON'T dump everyone but Doughty and start over. You guys are crazy if you think they will.
