On Lebowski's rug
Why in the wild, wild world of sports are these two still on the same line? Is it in their contracts that they need to play together? It's a poop show and not the kind with $2 tequila shots. It's the bad kind. I just can't wrap my four healthy brain cells around why these 2 are still on the same line. Heck, the kid lines are out chancing them in their 7 minutes. Boris the Blade is the worst coach we've ever seen in LA, and I'm talking all LA sports.

If these 2 are in King sweaters next October, I'm done. Gonna fish or pay attention to my wife and kids.

Jeff Carter will be 34 years old this season. We aren't going to be contending for awhile.

Why exactly is he still on the team? His value is only decreasing.

I think his value will be greatest at the trade deadline actually, as some GM will toss aside critical thinking and all rational thought.

True. Lucic got an albatross contract when he sucked. Can't be hard.all you need is a first round pick and no retention

I've said for a while that Carter and Toffoli don't play similar styles and don't play all that well together. If you wanna maximize Toffoli's success, you play him with Kopitar, who plays a much more methodical style. Move Brown to Carter's wing.

He only has 3 more years, that's likely before they are good again, i'd be willing to retain on any of these guys in order to sweeten the pot.

I'll see your "on the same line?", and raise you "on the same team?"

I dunno, these days Brown seems to be Kopitar's security blanket.

Brown has had success playing the left side before. Brown-Kopitar-Toffoli could be a thing. See if Iaffalo can gel with Carter.

Carter is getting eviscerated at ES this year. AND the powerplay blows. So ya.

He and Toffoli also are on the PK....which is dead last in NHL. 64% as of recent.

Carter last 15 games: 1 goal
Toffoli last 14 games 1 goal.

They comprise 2/3 of the second line and are the worst 2nd line in the NHL.
They play on the dead last PP in the NHL
They play on the dead last PK in the NHL

They lack passion, drive, any semblance of physical play, making anything happen (except breakdowns and broken plays) execution,
and any offensive production.

Toffoli is a problem when it comes to expectations, but in truth he is a 40+pt player, and is on pace for that kind of production with career average minutes. He should probably replace Iafallo on Kopitar ‘s line, but no Kings coach will ever do that.

Carter at this point is old and slow to recover from last years major ligament injury. He’s a borderline top 9 guy, but is being played like a 2c. If his minutes were reduced I wouldn’t be surprised to see his production rise after January.

Say what you will about Sutter, but at least he put players in a situation to thrive as long as they played hard. Neither Stevens nor Willie look like they strategize much outside of setting the lineup before the game. I know people didn't like the line blender but sometimes matchups needed the blender to happen based on non disclosed injury or lack of effort.

Unbelievable lol and Blake really saw something in Willie D ? Moron

I don't think WD was brought in the revive this team. The team just need a good kick in the butt type of coach. I doubt WD will be with this team past 2020. I am okay keeping him on board next season as well just to keep players accountable. We won't be competing for the playoffs or the cup next year anyways.

Well Robitaille said the Kings are contenders. Having met both of these guys I tend to believe Blake may be under some constraints that are not commonly known.
