Not related to Hart, but my brother suffers from PTSD and has manic episodes. All you can do is be there for him and be supportive. He's an avid gun lover and his 2nd amendment right has been stripped away by no fault of his own. It's sad.

Maybe that’s for the best?? Anyone with PTSD and manic episodes probably shouldn’t own a gun anyways. I’m so glad I live in Canada.

Again, there is nothing in the statement or that has been reported that refers to anything mental health-related. Perhaps it is, perhaps it isn't, but a requested leave of absence does not automatically imply that the player is bravely confronting a mental health issue.

All it says is that he requested a leave for "personal reasons." It does not imply he is fighting something or working on overcoming something. It also does not include any well wishes or words of support.

People can say plenty. Particularly about what the Flyers should do in his absence, or how other teams handle sudden indefinite leaves of absence. Or cap implications, as sometimes people don't know how things like this get handled. Or how well the announcement was constructed.

Or you can just say "hope it gets resolved, etc" or something else generic.

If your imagination is limited to unsubstatiated speculation about someone's personal life, I don't know what to tell you.

It has nothing to do with my imagination. There's no imagination involved if we're not openly wondering what it's about. Saying "I hope it gets resolved" doesn't take any imagination and everything else you mentioned is fairly mundane and will not lead to much discussion lol.

In any case, my post was sort of tongue in cheek towards the comment that posts like "Wish the best for him" may not look good in hindsight if this is to do with the Hockey Canada thing. I was jokingly saying "what can we say then?".

If Hart is out for a few weeks, Errson will be fine. If he's out longer than that and we don't make the playoffs, then that's what it is and we draft higher. We still have two picks in this draft.

Why is there no speculation? These boards are all about speculation, rumour, gossip, etc. we are allowed to speculate on everything except these kinds of things….. I think a better rule is that speculation or rumour should be ok as long as it’s done in somewhat respectful manner and not turn into flaming or trolling (posters just trying be funny or clever).
