Hey all. Thanks for the responses.

That website I linked to before claims to match paint based on the color code. They sell kits that include pens to small brush bottles to spray cans.

I am most interested in hearing how to sound it down. Can I just use my orbital sander and work my way up in grit rating? I believe the spoiler is bolted on and removable.

As I mentioned earlier some places will say exact match to paint code but thats not always the case. Sometimes touchup even bought at the dealer isn't always an exact match. Whether that is due to metalics, fading, clear coat, application method, etc I can not say.

I have been let down by some rattle can and touchup matches bought in store or online using exact factory paint codes but maybe a shop would be different. His car may have faded a bit. Thats why I put out the option of a paint match. Never heard of SprayMaxx. Thanks for the tip!
Which is why I let him now about the camera matching option from a good local paint supply. However, with the spot in question, any mismatch will be harder to see if they simply use the code. I'm pretty sure they can read the variant on the code..if not, they probably have a book of swatches that they can place next to the car to get the closest match.

As I stated before, it will probably still look a little off due to the pressure of a rattle can being too low as opposed to a spray gun. Metallics & Pearls are very sensitive to air pressure. I've had mismatches using paint from the same can due to inconsistent spray gun settings. This is why I never wanted to paint cars for a living...too many things in & out of your control can go wrong.

What kind of orbital sander do you have? Does it have a velcro face on it?

It does. It’s a pretty standard Bosch from Home Depot. I’m not too concerned about the final product looking great. Just better than it looks now which is a very low bar.

That is a good way to look at it. It wont be perfection but it will be a large improvement. Hope it goes very well 😊

If you'd like I can lay out a pretty easy set of instructions of how to prep the area & I'll also make a list of all the supplies you'll need. The most difficult & labor intensive part of this job is the taping & masking of the surrounding areas so you don't cover them all with overspray.

If you are able to remove the spoiler relatively easily, it can save you a good bit of time & work, but there's still some masking that needs to be done.

I plan to try to remove the spoiler this weekend. Happy to receive any advice you have in a DM?

I know some people said they did not like white cars but this one is nice imo. I just wish it was a red (or tan) interior. ...
I like and drive a white car, but 95% of the cars I see on the road are light or dark. It's so boring. I'm gonna paint my next car and it's either gonna be a bright color or a non-standard color.

You can buy it and paint it purple like my go-kart as a kid 😂

Had to order another RF tire. I had no idea how bald both my rear tires got. They almost looked like racing slicks on dragsters.

Thinking of buying some new detailing stuff. Does anyone have any experience with the following? Anyone have a wash mitt they recommend?

Griots Drying Towel:

Ryobi Handheld Blower/Dryer:
I've used towels like that with good success. First I use a water blade to remove most of the water, then finish with the towel.

No experience with the blower, but I've seen detailers use them. They're handy for getting hidden water out of gaps & door jambs, etc.

I almost never spend money on myself but I figured its time to try some things out. People rave about that Griots drying towel. Hope it is as good as they say.
Not sure about spending $100-$150 on a cordless blower. I have a cheap corded blower in garage but its big. The cordless I can remove the tube and make it easy to maneuver.

This handheld blower really does have some good reviews. I may buy it and not even get the Griots towel. I may just use some small microfiber towels with the blower.

Ryobi small blower with battery is on sale for 8 hours at HD so I treated myself to one. Was $30 off.

Just added a car to my auto insurance and it was a pretty good jump. What do you guys pay for auto insurance?

Here in CT, it's basically doubled since I moved here 3 years ago. Was $80 a month for 2 cars, 1 full coverage. Now it's about $140.

My two classics which are insured for $175K ($125 + $50) agreed value is a separate policy...costs me about $900 for the year for both through a separate agency.

I'm up to around $167 a month. I'd like to lower it but only way may be to sell 1 of my cars.

Been waiting on my first brand new car in 23 years. Organized my garage to get ready for it. Replaced 4 bad light bulbs. Cleaned most my garage floor which took way too long since I neglected it for 5 years of oil and tire marks. The wait for the car has reminded me of when I was around 11 years old I told my neighbors I was getting a dirt bike. They all had dirt bikes but since I did not have the money I did not end up getting 1 for another 3 years. The kids would always ask so where is your dirt bike lol. :D

Just got into my first fender bender today with an idiot taxi driver.

How do insurance companies determine who’s at fault?

Would they use my vast amount of speeding camera tickets against me even though that has nothing to do with this accident?

Also my car has cameras but I never spent the time to figure out how to use it. Will they use that against me?

Only a few scrapes on both cars so not a huge deal either way.

Sorry about your fender bender. Glad the damage was minimal. Sorry I do not have firm answers for your questions. Some states are fault and some no fault. Your speeding tickets in the past would effect your insurance cost but most likely not play any role in determining fault for this accident. As far as the cameras go I do not have a firm answer but they may remove any camera discount they gave you previously.
