I'd tend to agree with that. And while it's not a foregone conclusion that Bellemore will be out for more than a few games, when an announcer says "upper-body concern, will not return to the game," I hear "concussion".

I'm not so sure about just sticking Murphy in there and running with it. I guess it depends on how long Bellemore is out.

“We maybe underestimated these guys a little bit,†Karl Alzner said of the Hurricanes, who had lost six of eight prior to Tuesday’s game. “When they were up 3-0 on us, we were mad, but we didn’t use that anger the right way. We just kind of felt sorry for ourselves. It was really strange to see.â€

LOL. The fun part is when they underestimate a team that has already beaten them in their previous meeting, in their own house.

Actually, I don't remember the last time the Canes beat the Caps twice in a row on the road. Here's to hoping for continued underestimation by the opposing teams.

Serious question, at what point do we have to make the evaluation that Justin Peters might actually be worth a damn? I've been waiting for this balloon to pop, but the truth is that he has better numbers on the year than Khudobin has produced and it's not such a small sample size anymore. What it do?

Truth is, every goalie not named "Cam Ward" has better numbers than every goalie named "Cam Ward". And the sample sizes are about the same.

anyone want to figure out what the hurricanes sv% with ward in net from the start of last season compared to to the sv% without ward?

i'm betting it's pretty close.

Since last season:

With Ward - 31 GP, 81 GA, 879 SA, .907 SV%, 2.61 GAA
Without Ward - 54 GP, 143 GA, 1534 SA, .906 SV%, 2.64 GAA

Assuming I'm not missing any goaltenders in "Without Ward". I believe it's Ellis, Peters and Anton, correct?

Which simply tells you that lesser goaltenders we stick in net can almost equal a Ward that's coming off major injuries.

I was only able to catch the 3rd period last night. I saw that Skinner had 2 "soft" goals, but thats not taking away how great he played. Peters did well too. Was this the Canes playing well or the Caps just not showing up?

And you would think the Crapitols were the defending Stanley Cup champions or were a great team or something. I mean, they are three points ahead of us in the freaking Metro division. They got b**** slapped last night, so they need to deal with it.
