The Panthers have 20 mil in cap space....

I don't follow the NFL enough to know...but is there a world where they pick up Gano from the terrible Giants....or any other decent kicker for that matter?

That could be worth a couple wins alone.

Pretty rare for solid starting kickers to be traded. So I don't think that's going to happen.

If Luke were to decide to come back, provided he was healthy (plz be healthy no matter what), there would be no need for Marley Drug anymore. And we get Shi Smith and AJ Bouye back soon. Next year I hope we go hogmollie crazy in the draft and finally get this O line right. Maybe a safety too so Chinn can play in the box. Looks like we have a bright future ahead of us.

When is the last time that we could say that about the Hurricanes, Panthers, and Hornets at the same time? Ever?

I don't believe there has been a single year since the Panthers became a team that all 3 teams have made the playoffs in the same year... Hopefully that changes starting this year.

Is there actually speculation Kuechly is considering a return? Or is this just fantasy talk?

There has been no info pointing towards a Luke return, but you just never really know with guys like him who retire so early. I highly doubt he comes back, especially since 1 more bad concussion could be life changing for him, but you gotta think that he can't help but think how fun it'd be to play with this pass rush and secondary.

From what I have been able to seem Darnold looks surprisingly competent as the Panthers QB right now. Lots of dump downs, but that's not a problem when those plays are consistently getting chunk YAC. Its how Manning, Brady and Brees ran roughshod over the league for as many years as they did. Heck, its how Foles won a Super Bowl with the Eagles. What I'm liking most is that the Panthers have the receivers to take the top off if they decide to go deep, and Darnold has the arm and accuracy to make it happen. Combined with the defense they have, there's some serious potential here.

I don't know why people are so surprised. This is a guy who's only a few years removed from being considered one of the top prospects in football. A few bad years playing on an extremely bad team doesn't mean the guy can't play.

Having watched what happened to Wentz, its very possible to have a top guy just fall off a cliff like that.

All 3? On paper maybe a few times but in reality? Hardly ever. Never has all 3 made playoffs in one season.

I looked this up. Seasons in which two of the three clinched a playoff berth.

Hornets and Canes: 2000-01 and 2001-02
Panthers and Canes: 2005-06 and 2008-09
Hornets and Panthers: 1996-97, 2013-14, and 2015-16.

Only twice has both teams either won a do-or-die game and/or went past round two. 2001-02 and 2005-06, both of which ended up seeing the Hockey team win the Eastern Conference at minimum.

The Hornets currently have the 2nd longest playoff drought in the NBA, Panthers last playoff appearance was the 2017-18 season, a Wild-card loss in New Orleans. Since that time, Dundon became Hurricanes owner and Tepper bought the Panthers.

Summer 2001:

"Damn, the Panthers made the Super Bowl!
Can't wait to see how the Canes do this year!"

Spring 2002:

"Holy **** the Canes made the Stanley Cup Finals!
Let's see how the Hornets are do
But the Panthers didn't make a Super Bowl until 2003-04. In summer 2001 Tom Brady was still some pimply nerd nobody backup from Michigan.
